Notre Dame game thoughts

I'm not impressed with anyone on their offense. Wimbush is their only real threat (use that word very lightly) as a runner, but our defense will break him by the 4th quarter.

Their defense is another overrated joke like VT.

Miami 28 / ND 13

Hopefully you will be more impressed after the game. They have some players out there. watch out for stepherson.

You have a better qb? A glorified rb. Lol. You don’t have a wr who would start at UM.

Obviously wimbush came back in and played. The rb had exams and was tired and not feeling well from a tough week. Lol

Wimbush has been banged up on and off all year unfortunately, still needs to learn to take a hit like a QB

I watch football 12-12 every Saturday. Nobody & I mean nobody hits the QB like Miami. I think this is the biggest advantage we have. I think Wimbush is in for the shock of his lifetime. Plus his dumb comments don’t help when your looking across at 10 NFL players with 4-5 coming off the bench but I guess the kid has stones.

That or dumb as F***

Hes far from dumb.

The bolded is huge for Saturday. Our ends, if they can speed rush your tackles, will be giving Wimbush nightmares. He's got a long windup on most of his passes,Thomas, Jackson, and Garvin could have a lot of fun Saturday night.

Another thing I noticed while watching some of your game film is Adams likes to let things develop in front of him and be patient. That's not going to be very easy Saturday, our defense is quick to react and fast off the ball. Add in some pressure on blitzes and Adams could be in for a long day.[/QUOTE]

Adams does do that, sometimes to a fault. I think that what will help ND is that they can play 4 backs, all of which bring something different. I think that our McIntosh (Deon) is a heck of a running back who hits the hole hard, could play a nice role in this game.

Here's something that ND needs to consider.

The players themselves may not have a memory of the 1988 and 1989 games. But many of our fans do.

I'm Catholic, much of South Florida is Catholic, and the whole "Catholics vs. Convicts" stuff in 1988 angered people in South Florida immensely. Our fans treated ND fans with great disrespect in 1989 (I was one of them) and it was well-deserved.

So the crowd noise and anger should be very pronounced on Saturday night. I would say "nothing personal", but I think it's very personal.

i have noticed that. I have seen ND hatred over the years, but never like on this board. I wasn't apart of that and dont really like hearing about it now. its just a football game.

I disagree with the other poster. We have faced a murderer's row of QBs. Aside from teams that have played both Baker Mayfield and Mason Rudolph, we may have faced one of the tougher slates of QBs of any team.

Logan Woodside of Toledo is one of the best and smartest QBs I've seen all year. I am super impressed by him and I believe he's gonna be a NFL QB. He won't get drafted too high due to not checking all the measurables boxes, but he's a gamer.

Eric Dungey of Syracuse is the fearless leader of Syracuse's high powered offensive attack. Great dual threat QB. Toughest competitor we've faced.

Daniel Jones of Duke leads a strong offense and is a NFL prospect under David Cutcliffe's tutelage.

Fair point. Honestly, i looked at the teams and not the players before posting.

I disagree with that. I think ND has the advantage at QB, running back, OL. I think Potential for receivers is in ND's favor, but actual output, favors Miami. i think across the board Miami is better on D. We may only have 1 or 2 guys to start on Miami's D. Special teams, i think we have a great punter and kicker, but our coverage is suspect.

Ahmmon Richards - Braxton Berrios - Jeff Thomas

As to your special teams comment, interestingly, our coverage has been somewhat suspect as well.

I wouldn't worry about that though, our returns are pretty poor, if we get a 10 yard punt return, im ecstatic haha.

Crowd in it the whole game? Lol. The crowd was in it till the last snap of the va tech game. Every 3rd and 4th down. Even other downs. It will be much worse and for longer with an extra 10k rabid fans.

And i think they have had the advantage of being in it while Miami has come back in games this year. So even IF nd runs up a 14 point lead after half (not saying they will) i don't expect the crow to go anywhere.

Hes far from a glorified RB. He may not show it this year, but i think his future is very bright. I think we have 1, maybe 2, but honestly, i ll know better after saturday.

So to give some context on our WRs. Ahmmon Richards is a superstar. He's been hobbled by a nagging hamstring so he hasn't been fully available this season, but he's still had some big plays and by all accounts is healthier every week. We will need him to be himself this Saturday. He broke Michael Irvin's freshman receiving yards record last year. He will be a 1st rounder after next season. He's in the same tier as the most talented guys we've had come through UM IMO. Look up some of his freshman highlights.

Braxton Berrios is the ideal slot guy. He's quick, fast, smart, and pure grit. He's one of our offensive leaders and is having his best season. He has come up big when we needed it this year.

Other than those two, our WRs are mostly potential as Jeff Thomas is a true freshman but was the fastest recruit in the 2017 class. He was the Under Armour game MVP. We've gotten a few big plays out of him this year and he has more consistently been involved as the season goes on. Darrell Langham is a big target who is great on contested balls. He's not a consistent guy for us, but he is proving to fill that role brilliantly. I'm not familiar with ND's WRs but it's possible you guys could have someone that could start for us, but it wouldn't be over Ahmmon or Braxton unless they're playing like a sure fire top 3 round NFL guy.

Additionally, Chris Herndon is our do-it-all TE who will be drafted and play in the NFL

St. Brown is very good but lots of ND fans seem to be down on him - why is that? IIRC, he gave us fits last year.

Wimbush does not concern me as a passer. Yeah, he may get some TE seam routes off play action or max protect play action kinds of throws but the damage he'll do to us will be on the ground. Jackson, the QB from VT, tried running read zone and QB draws several times during the game. I felt that if he had the speed of Wimbush, he would have broken more. I'm sure Wimbush will gash us at times. The big thing with him is to get him spooked by constantly getting after him and maybe forcing an early INT. I think if we get an early INT, with the crowd noise and maybe getting hit a couple times, that will rattle him the rest of the game. This is his first year as a starter and his first road challenge - that's a tough spot to be in for a young QB.

I'd have expected your OL would have kept him pretty clean. This is not a good thing playing us, as we've tired out and banged up some of the toughest dual threat guys around. It's part of what we do schematically. We take out the opposing QB "from their game plan".

Not that I disagree that the defense tries to attack the QB, but we haven't exactly faced a murderer's row of QBs this season, and certainly not the "toughest dual threat guys around."

not trying to sound like a homer, but i think he will be the best Qb you have faced yet. He runs very well and can throw way better than his stats show. He has a little bit of an accuracy issue, but its gotten a lot better. He just needs his receivers to help him out. He may only pass for 140 yards, but he forces teems to respect him as if he was throwing 300, which opens up the run game.

Logan Woodside is the only QB to not have a turnover against us.

Our biggest flaw is that for 5 minutes a game, Rosier forgets how to play football.

If he can get that down to 4 minutes, we roll.

during the middle of the first game i told my wife that wimbush would throw at least 1 pick a game. he was fearless in his throws. he tightened up a bit during the georgia game, but has finally started to get that confidence back. He hasn't turned it over since georgia. I wouldn't be surprised if he throws one Saturday, but i have been impressed with his ability to shake off mistakes.
