Notre Dame game thoughts

Time to bring some of you cane fans down to earth a bit..ND might have best oline in country and should control LOS especially if the ND pass gm hits few big pass plays early to keep D honest. Wimbush is improving weekly with his passing and his confidence continues to grow. People forget coming out of HS he was 5* recruit top 5 Qb in country. In fact in hs his legs were secondary to his arm and he lit up good hs teams via the pass.. Anyway ND also has played a better schedule. Playing 4 teams as good or better than Miami’s best opponent. After facing UGA and NCstate front 7s Miami will not bring anything that Nd hasn’t seen. Question to me is if ND D of last week shows up or from prior weeks. That will be difference whether this is close back and forth gm or whether ND pulls away and wins comfortably. Watching both teams ND is the better team but maybe home field keeps it close.

I have a feeling we’ll be geared up to stop the running game and spy the qb, our secondary has been playing lights out. Qb gonna take a lot of hits. I’m sure UM alum will be around all week and the day of the game talking to our guys. No one picking us, home underdogs, qb dominating us.
I’m sure we’re happy having game day. More recruiting exposure for UM, positive press.

The thing that this encouraging for me is that everyone has had the idea of loading up the box to stop the run, but so far no one has really been able to, other than Georgia. However, i think the speed of your DB's will be something new to face. I think we are a better team then what faced Georgia though. Wimbush is coming along nicely. He really can throw much better then what the stats show, he just isn't getting any help from his receivers. they have the size and speed, but aren't very physical and have a case of the drops this season...

Well thats what happens when you have the best OG in the draft in Quentin Nelson and another potential 1st round pick OT in McGlinchey leading the run game.

But this will definitely be the best DL you guys have played against, and not just our starters. It is our best and deepest position on the team.
We likely won't hold you to <100 yards rushing because with they style of aggressive defense we play, we will definitely give up some 10+ yard runs. But we will very likely get a bunch of TFLs on you guys. Should be a good game. You guys are playing into our strength though. We're straight up going to press man cover your wrs with a single high safety and pressure the **** out of your OL/QB/RB ALL game.

So this will be like the third or fourth time nd is being threatened with the best dL comment. And I’m not saying your wrong, but what makes miami different from Georgia, Michigan State, nc stats, Boston college who all stated that they had first round lineman? Bc the only one that showed nd up was Georgia. Is it just depth to keep talent fresh? Or is it talent?

Nelson is freakishly good, mcglinchy is good run, but struggles with speed on pass. Now the right side is ok at run but pretty solid with pass

Lol...BC? Cmon man. If your team thinks like you do then they are in for a long day. Our starters on DL are 4 pros across including 2 1-2 rounders (Thomas and McIntosh). Jackson is a true soph and might be our best pass rusher - he’ll be a first rounder in a couple years. It’s not even close to uga/MSU or even lol Bc where they might have 1-2 pros at best.

Last week all I did was harp on stats. Not this week. The team showed me they have another gear. If Our team plays with the same intensity we played vs VT (minus the turnovers). Sit back, relax, and watch a classic. Miami 23-20.

Yup, IMO, this is the first time the D really showed up. They showed up for 60 minutes, shocked me. If they can come out with that intensity it will be fun to watch. Without the 3 picks that game could have gotten out of hand for VT. I'm hoping that was a wake up game they played like the old Canes use to play.

The one take away I get from the GA VS ND game was, GA started a true freshmen QB @ ND with only 3/4's of a game experience. They still won! That shows me their coaches didn't take advantage of that, Or.....

We don't have one RB near as good as GA's two starters right now. Gonna have to find a way to open it up for our RB's. Richards must show up for this game. Get Thomas involved in post or crossing routes where he can use his superior cutting ability to burn a DB. No more of that deep route **** trying to out run a 6'3 DB, that's insane unless he's slow. Use Richards for that straight line deep route. Clean up the offense and this is a very good team.

ND has played one pretty good team on the road, that's it. MS screwed up early and paid the price. I'd say at home we are a much better team than MS at this point. ND has played it's last 3 games at home, now coming to SF, let's see how that works out for them. I think the coach has this team peaking at the right time. If our Defense plays lights out like they did against VT we are winning this game. I'm still blown away how the D played, **** that was sweet.

Our DLine is WAY better then USC and WAY deeper then both NC State and UGA

D End - future first round pick sophmore joe jackson, Senior and really athletic chad thomas(likely a 3-5 round pick), trent harris very good d end that is fast and athletic, Jonathan Garvin FREAKY true freshman he will be a star in a few years, Demetrious Jackson is injured and is also a future nfl player

D Tackle - RJ Mcintosh is super fast and athletic and is a 1-3 round pick type player, Kendrick Norton is a beast who is underrated but plugs the run also steps up in big games, Pat Bethel very good and athletic sophomore, Anthony Moten is a pretty good senior

I am not exaggerating in my descriptions I think we might have the most depth at the dline in college football and the best d line coach in the nation.

NC State has the best d end in college football but not much depth, uga and usc have really good starters but not much depth also.

We can sub the whole dline at once without missing a beat and I think that if your oline is not deep then you will not have an answer in the second half.

V Tech would beat USC and NC State and that isn't even a question to me

The pac 12 doesn't have any good defenses and nc state isn't that good.

THIS! We have a legit 3 Deep along the DL. Our 3rd string DE came in and **** near ripped Josh Jackson's arm off on a strip sack, scooped up the ball, and returned it 10 yards. That's a true freshman 3rd stringer.

Don't ND fans know that this game is sold out. We'll probably win by 10 tho, b/c ND likes to play that prevent defense

excluding FCS opponents;

we are #3 in passing defensive efficiency
we are #1 in sacks per game
we are #1 in tackles for loss per game
we are #1 2 in scoring defense
we are #4 in turnovers per game

idgaf about rushing yards total given up,

wimbush keeps talking **** and he will be in for a LONG day

Stop that you’ve played 4 teams better than our best opponent. Even FSU would still beat a lot those teams. No question.

You played 3 of those games at home, now you come to our house let's see how that works out for your best offensive line in the country, which they aren't. You gained a total of 55 yards on the ground against GA, that is not a top offensive line. You played GA at home with a freshman QB that didn't have a complete game under his belt and still lost. If Miami's D shows up like they did against VT, they are better than the GA defense. It's our offense that has to step up, can't have 3 picks.

NCST has a good Senior DL for sure. But really all they are is one absolute stud in Chubb. But other than Chubb, they don't come close to being as talented.

UGA is a 34 team, so its tough to say their DL is good when they only have 3 of them and only Trenton Thompson is any good...he will likely be a top 3 round pick at DT. Their 34 OLBs are Lorenzo Carter who can rush the passer well and Roquan Smith who is one of my favorite LBs and will also be a top 3 round pick. After those 3 they really don't got ****. They definitely don't have any depth, and even their 3 best DL they have (I'll include their olbs just for sake of discussion) aren't even as good as our starters. In fact, I'd take some of our backups over their starters.

Even saying BC in comparison to Miami's DL is a joke, and so is Michigan St.

Joe Jackson our starting WDE will be a 1st round pick, and he's our best pass rusher. His backup for this game since our other guy is going to be out is Jon Garvin is an athletic freak and 100% has the potential to be a 1st rounder. Just last game he beat VTechs LT for a strip sack and recovered it.

RJ McIntosh has possibly been the best player on our team this year. He's an absolute beast. He's a top 3 round DT for sure, and better than Trenton Thompson. Kendrick Norton is a NT who's WAY better than UGA's NT, and he's a stud too. If Rj McIntosh is a 2nd round pick, he'll probably be a 3rd. He's maybe just below Vita Vea as far as NT's are concerned.

At SDE we have Chad Thomas. He won't be an early pick, though he will get drafted. And he is a 5 star recruit. He's been a beast in Manny Diaz's defense and last year was our best DLineman. His backup isn't even really a backup since he is almost always on the field - Trent Harris. This dude isn't as athletically talented as our other DL, but he's just as good. He's the guy that just gets **** done. When theres definite passing down, we usually take Norton off, drop Chad down, and Harris is at DE getting pressure.

Plus we have the best College DL coach in the country.

The only thing you said that is remotely true is that ND might have the best OL in the country.

It doesn't matter if you get a few big pass plays or not. We're going to crowd the LOS. Our #1 goal will be solely to take away your strength which is the run game. Expect a **** load of Press Man With 1 high safety. We're not going to play off coverage and keep 2 safeties back vs yall. You're tripping if you think we're at all worried about your passing game.

Wimbush might be improving, but he was NOT a 5* recruit, but you can keep calling him that if it makes you feel better about him. He was 46th in the Composite and 45th by ESPN and 247. But okay, either way the Miami D is going to **** him up like we have EVERY other qb we've played.

ND has played a better schedule: Okay I can agree with that as of this moment. Guess what else ND has done? Lost a game to their best opponent. Miami's won all of ours. NCSt isn't going to be ranked this week but USC is a good team, and Michigan st is solid. Rather be undefeated than lose to the only top15 team I played...but wait Miami actually beat our Top 15 team (Vtech was #13 in the only poll that matters).

UGA and NCSt both don't have a DL/front 7 nearly the quality or depth of Miami's DL/front 7. And they definitely don't have near the offensive weapons we have.

The only thing ND has better than Miami is OL.

I’m sure your OL will win plenty of battles and I’m sure they will see our front 4 and think they can manage. Maybe they get the best of them for a half, who knows? I think the big plus for our DL that those other schools don’t have is that we currently rotate heavily 9 guys on the DL. We are an aggressive defense that plays fast and we rotate bc of our depth. And while other teams have controlled our DL for parts of games, over the long haul of the game, our front 4/7 ends up prevailing bc of our depth and keeping guys fresh. Now, that might change a bit now that one of our key DEs is out with a knee and forces us to play a very talented freshman but I think our philosophy does not change. Anyway, strength vs strength.

This will be a brutal battle in the trenches.

What I think is the X factor that hasn’t been considered by the national media and by Irish fans is what Canes Offense shows up.

If the Canes can do a healthy mix of ground and air attack, and move the ball on ND’s Defense, they will win this game.

Hey guys, i have been trying to start a thread, but it hasn't been released yet, so i'll go ahead and comment in here. ND fan (obviously), just looking to talk a little football, not here to troll, argue, etc. Just get too annoyed with ND boards, but love talking some football. I do this for all of ND's bigger games. Ill leave if everyone wants, but would like to stay and get some facts on Miami and share what i know (or think i know) about ND. ill give honest opinions of good and bad of ND and do my best to answer any questions you have. Let me know what you think.

Crazy pumped for this game, huge for both teams. Obviously Miami has more to play for after ND regardless, but with the playoffs as a goal, both need to win to help secure that (although Miami could lose and still possibly make it).

So basically, before i waste a bunch of time typing up stuff, am i welcomed?

fvck you

To that point, I think our Front 7 is superior to what the Irish saw at home against USC. That said, the Irish OL is a thing to behold and they will gash us at times. What Diaz comes up with will be interesting.

So basically, before i waste a bunch of time typing up stuff, am i welcomed?

fvck you

There it is....
