Notre Dame AD: ACC did “permanent damage”

Understand ND’s disappointment & frustration. We’d feel the same if shoe were reversed. Also get the initial *****ing & uproar . . . but now it’s out & out embarrassing. The AD, in particular, is beyond embarrassing, acting like an impulsive, spoiled 13 year old. It’s not just the crying, but his argument isn’t based on overwhelming facts & his not so veiled threats are wholly unprofessional. Guy needs to be subject of a SNL skit.

Unfortunate accident on an Indiana highway; truck carrying an essential part needed to accompany their press conference tipped over.

I actually felt slightly bad for Notre Dame being left out when it happened. Definitely thought they deserved to be in and were being screwed by placing Bama / 5 SEC teams over them.

After the past couple days... ****em. Learned my lesson, will never ever feel sorry for those entitled pricks again.

the irony? it's never been an ELITE institution except for football in the post war, and pre-millennial eras. no respect for anyone associated with that place. that's all in their own heads.

there's a reason they are one of the institutions on my firm's "do not hire" list, when it comes to undergraduate recruiting.

I have seen mentioned from several media people on X that ND is shopping around a possible ND/Miami package to other conferences. The only one currently looking to expand is the Big12.

If this is in any way true we gone. No conference is going to turn away ND/Mia tied together.

I just have a hard time believing it’s true - hope I’m wrong.

The Big 10 would jump all over that if true. They have 18 teams now as well when two divisions of 10 make more sense.

Big 10 of course would be the right move but selfishly a move to the Big 12 puts a least one game a year driving distance from Houston.

This may not be a popular opinion, but to me this is just more evidence that Phillips is a light weight.

ND is a member of the ACC in every sport except football, hockey, and rugby (the latter two I am presuming the ACC does not have). To publicly campaign for one conference member over another was predictably going to expose you to MAJOR fallout while doing nothing to move the needle with the committee. This kind of thing should be done through surrogates in the media and behind closed doors.

Moreover, when Phillips saw the nightmare tiebreaker scenarios potentially unfolding about 5 weeks ago, he should have convened an emergency meeting and put a new tiebreaker system on the table and strong armed the schools into passing it. Instead, he fiddled while Rome burned and rolled out an embarassment of an ACCCG that very nearly got the ACC shut out from the playoff altogether.

I understand there is no sympathy for ND, but Phillips is not a serious commissioner and he needs to go. He's playing Geometry Dash while Sankey is playing chess.
At best Phillips is incompetent. At worst he’s using the ACC to line his families pockets.
