Just realized they play SMU (which I think they lose) so they could very well be 9-3 on the outside looking in. I so hope that is the case.

We're the better team top to bottom. From watching them play this year, their roster doesn't necessarily scare me.

That said, I think everyone is overlooking one factor: we beat them in Week 1, and then jumped them in the rankings at the last second when the final rankings came out. I'm sure that ****ed them off, and they'll be looking for revenge. Their entire offseason motivation was built on this game. They're going to be fired up, and we need to be ready for that.

Pitt’s defensive scheme was borderline negligent. Mali is not getting free run off the line. ND is very athletic and will make Mensah earn his money. I think our approach will be risk averse. But what do I know?

If they put somebody on Mali man to man in the slot then we will beat them by 3 TDs. That would be a colossal mistake by Freeman and Ash.

No scheme can be worse than Pitt’s. It looked like flag football. You simply cannot allow Mali to be free as a bird off the line. The likelihood for big plays will materially increase this game, just as Mensah’s time and room for error will decrease.

Pin them back with good punts. Make them try to drive down the field on long drives.

We have given too many teams momentum by going for it and failing unnecessarily.

The rankings are made up to justify the results that the CFP Committee wants. If they want ND in the playoff, they'll rank them #12. If they, don't, they'll rank them #13. End of story.

The whole "poll inertia" or "only dropping so far" thing is irrelevant. This isn't like the AP poll which is an aggregation of many individuals' votes, it's a committee that meets in secret to produce good TV ratings. Just last year, they flipped us with ND at literally the last second.
