Notes on Feeley, the new S&C coach

If he believes in explosive athletes making explosive plays, I'm interested. Rapport with players is also vital.

FWIW I had 2 Temple transfers at ETSU. A QB and a LB and we sat down with them and talked S&C and their backgrounds to develop the best plan for them. Feeley focuses on Olympic lifts as their primary “style”. Don’t thibk he’s a Hatch disciple but he does that type of fast twitch development.

For a QB, Marchi was very good in the weight room and had very good technique. The LB was an absolute animal and probably pound for pound the best lifter we had and came in great shape straight from temple.

This can't be possible. He's not 1 of the 2-3 S&C coaches that Cane fans know by name so he can't be any good.
Dude, Kurt Hester was only popular around these parts because he trained marines and made wacky YouTube videos. Meanwhile, La Tech's football program has been no more successful than Temple's in the past 5 years.

I’m intrigued

It’s a stupid ******* saying but Manny “gets it” when talking about our recruiting advantages and what type of athlete we should be recruting

He’s not trying to reinvent the wheel or prove he’s smarter than the system.

Who cares how good they were in the weight room. Were they any good on the football field?

You realize hester has a training facility that specifically trains kids for the combine right? He trained numerous NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL athletes and currently has a kid that came into the school at 210 and is now pushing 280 and predicted to be a first round pick.

I'll base my reaction from this upcoming offseason since I know nothing about this guy and very little about the ins and outs of what strength and conditioning coaches do

But if he is actually allowed to physically be around the players working out and actually preaches what he teaches then it's a step in the right direction

We are talking about SC coach not a position coach. For this discussion who cares how well they performed on the field. That is an indictment of the position coach. I care how well they performed in the weight room.

His job is the weight room ,not to bring in talent. its to make what he has in the program stronger, faster and hopefully for us less injury prone

if he can develop explosive strength , I'm in. we will know in year 2 thats when full impact of program will be felt.
for instance year 2 at UGA, they were physically imposing at every position.
been a long time since we have had explosive strength......

Who cares? I watched a 15 min YouTube video on hester who I learned about a few days ago. It's obvious Hester is a much better coach and feely is a lazy hire. 😂

Guess Temples players looked like Bamas and Clemson’s?

One reason Bama and Clemson players look like animals is they recruit animals to begin with. Especially Bama. They recruit monsters up front. I'm not downplaying S/C but when you recruit monsters and then have a culture of competition and accountability then you get the results that you see at Bama and Clemson.
