Low expectations + Meet those expectations = Everything is good
Is that any worse than saying we should win 11 games and then ****ing when
the team performs to the appropriate level?
Let's address the
bold first:
We're not at the appropriate level, that is the issue.
1. 15-13 ACC
2. 0-3 versus FSU
3. 0 ACC Coastal Champs
4. Retains everyone on staff and makes no changes. Same result occurs in year 4.
So cut the with appropriate level BS, look at the above. Last year sealed the deal (along with the off-season). After the FSU game, we allowed 90 points to VT and Duke. With everything to play for, we failed miserably. Last year, in the middle of year 3, we still can't fix the issues. That was the end. Then we ended the season on a high note, getting raped by UL. End result, missed the opportunity to win the coastal and finished 5-3 AGAIN in the ACC.
Now for the
underlined part.
Let's take the quote from the coaches opening press conference
The bar has been set and that bar is not going to move at the University of Miami. The thing I’ve said is, Don’t move the bar. Let us chase it, but don’t bring the bar down. Keep it where it is.
Like we said and will continue to say. He is failing to move us forward. He is sticking to the same staff and not improving. He is not moving us forward.
1. Exceeding low expectations or improving from a dismal performance doesn't mean much. So everyone can stop with we improved against Duke and VT because even if we beat them this year, we replaced them with performances like GT and UL. Replacing is not improvement, it is just more of the same. This year it is GT and UL.
2. Where is the actual improvement?
2011: 3-5 (L to FSU)
2012: 5-3 (L to FSU)
2013: 5-3 (L to FSU)
2014: 2-2 (Yet to be determined)
3. The biggest problem is Golden's commitment to a failed scheme and staff. He doesn't make changes. Everyone makes changes (for better or worse) but he sticks to the same staff. How are we going to improve if he sticks to the same system and staff? We already have more talent than 95% of our opponents. You don't think VT and Duke would kill for most of these kids?
