Who could PSU get that would be better than Franklin? Doubt they fire him.

It should never be forgotten that they shouldn’t even be allowed to have a football program.
I have been a member on this site for close to 10 years and I said this same thing. And you have the Penn State and JoePa diehards spill the "that was a long time ago garbage" Tell that to the victims and their families. That program deserves everything its getting right now and a ton more.

It’s despicable

Franklin is 104-45 at Penn St and they're talking about firing him.

I hope they do and they hire Al Golden, the *****.
It’s the Nick Saban effect. Every program believes that they are one hire away from that kind of run. A lot of programs end up firing above average to very good coaches and end up wandering through the wilderness for years on end. Ask Nebraska whether firing Frank Solich and Bo Pelini was worth it. People forget that winning the games you’re supposed to and losing to the hyper elite is the fate of most good programs. Playing high end teams are coin flips at best. Unless you have a Nick Saban, you aren’t going to dominate the other elites for years on end. Maybe you’ll hit on a QB or two and run it(Dabo) but even that isn’t sustainable.

If PSU fires Franklin, dude won’t be unemployed past sundown, and a program like FSU or UF would be happy to have him.

Thank you for acknowledging race because if Franklin was cheeks I'd say so. This man is criticized more than Brian Kelly.

I think Franklin has done about as good as anyone could at Penn State. He hasn't been funded like Michigan and Ohio State in his conference up until recently. Penn State is at best a second tier B10 job.

Yes 4-21 versus top 10 teams is below average. But, his tenure at Penn State wholistically has been above average.
Wait, what race is Franklin? I just thought he was a white dude with a nice tan.

i dont think they gonna fire that boy...they may force some offensive changes but from here on out he has the @1 qb hurt excuse and he had them competitive last year with a good class locked in.

I think he from PA too so yea he likely safe.....if he was to get fired places like ucla would hire him in a second....stanford etc
They shouldn't, but in today's CFB landscape the Money Men want results now more than ever & they're not going to be as patient as they've been in the past.

NIL & Portal has expedited the process of winning & building, which gives Boosters the impression they can buy a Championship & theoretically they can.

Which means, even for a Coach with a great resume like JF, will have a lot of pressure on him to deliver. Given that he usually loses big games & is now losing games he's supposed to win, that will be the catalyst they can use to justify moving on from him.

He's been there for 11 going on 12 years now; I would guess in their minds they've given him enough time.

PSU, uniquely, has no idea what being bad is like for an extended period of time. Paterno was there for 45 years. The only time they sucked when he was there was '00-'04. They would be crazy to fire Franklin, whom I do enjoy ****ting the bed against good teams (and now bad teams too).

Franklin is 1-11 against Ohio State (eight straight losses) and 3-7 against Michigan (three straight losses) since he took over in 2014.

If Penn State had won even 40% of those games — instead of the actual 18% — he probaby could hang on even with these last two ridiculous losses.

Penn State firing James Franklin and hiring Al Golden would be epic. Not gonna happen though. At least the second part.

How about Manny Diaz? He did pretty well as PSU defensive coordinator a few years ago. ;)

I don’t see Al Golden coming back to college to be a HC again. I don’t want to see that ******* shirt and tie again.

LOL, generous of you to acknowledge that 4-21 is "below average".
