Norland - No CB Visits

Sound like he said plenty of Miami visits.

Don’t get what the issue is.

If you don’t have a corner/DB we want, why would a corner backs coach even visit that much?

I would expect nothing more than perfunctory visits from defensive back coaches, if they don’t have anyone we want, as long as the school is maintaining recruiting relationships overall with a school - that’s what really counts.

This is just bltching about nothing, trying to find things to be outraged about. And in the end what difference does it make, Rumph is gone anyway

bc when you have the high end corner and start going around, that coach isnt gonna wanna deal w you and help you out. its all relationships. I think macho mentioned this years ago under golden with how little coaches would interact with his kids and it def hurts you. you cant just show up when the school has someone you want. you keep the relationship bc that coach will be there long past the kid is gone and has a strong bond with the kid

Not taking up for Rumph but this coach is lame as **** for this. He literally singled out one of 10 coaches lol probably just to pile on after the man has been dismissed. Has Norland had a stud corner recently?
he was probably specifically asked about Rumph since he was just let go. These reporters lead these guys into a subject and only publish the comments, but not the lead. Doubt he just decided to single out Rumph out of nowhere

I see a Gang of people that don’t see how recruiting works. It doesn’t matter if they have a CB you can recruit at the moment. You keep that relationship poppin. A quick drop by from time to time to cut up and talk ball isn’t hard. **** I don’t think Rumph went to any school to recruit anybody so the point is null and void.

the man landed not one soul. Not one. That’s incompetence

seriously. the rumph defenders are insane. if everyone else is going (EVEN IF THERE ISNT ONE PROSPECT), you still take the time out to keep the relationship with the school

I'll explain something very simple to you and the many who don't seem to understand a very simple concept.

It isn't his area or school to recruit. I'll say it again, it isn't his school to recruit.

All our coaches are assigned different areas. They recruit those areas and those coaches are that schools primary recruiter. They are entrusted to build the relationship. The coaches at each school know this and it's a dumb story.

Miami had plenty of people visiting there.

Sometimes it’s just certain coaches that are assigned certain schools. And I’m not defending Rumph, but apparently he didn’t have the best personality for recruiting anyway. So I don’t see what the big deal is. It was probably better he didn’t go anyway.

He’s gone. Move on. People just need to let it go. What’s the point of all this bltching about a guy that’s gone?

The last Norland corner I remember is Nadab Joseph, and we didn't offer him despite Bama, LSU, UGA & FSU being all over him
Come on bro..this is a sketchy example. Nadab Joseph has been a journeyman throughout his short collegiate career. The staff got that one right.

Very perceptive, and probably exactly what happened.

And then when the shlt is published it sounds like that coach is singling out Rumph, when in fact he was specifically asked about him, so it makes it sound a lot worse than it is.

Reporter: “Did you ever see Rumph that much”

Coach: “No, not too much. But we did see plenty of the other coaches. We had an excellent relationship”

Reporter headline: “Dolphins and ex-HS coach says Rumph never visited his high school”

CIS mouth breathers: “Our recruiting sucks. We don’t visit local high schools enough.”

All over a coach whose recruiting was a liability anyway.

Time to move on.

Have they had a corner worth a ****?

Just saying...Someone may be slipping my mind obviously. But if other coaches are stopping by would a corner coach need to if not his area and no UM corner prospect?
Carlton Davis and Xavier Rhodes but I’m not sure was coaching at UM at the time

Agree 100%

This is a narrative more than it's a story

Reading Manny Navarro's article on the impact of hiring T-Rob, I found these little juicy nuggets: Heidelburg, who coached Miami’s all-time leading rusher, Duke Johnson, and offensive tackle Ereck Flowers, a first-round pick who played for the Hurricanes and is now with the Dolphins, said

" . . . t’s been a few years since UM’s cornerbacks coach stopped by his school. I know Rumph, but I don’t ever remember Rumph coming to Norland,” Heidelburg said. “I mean, maybe it wasn’t his school. I know they have their specific schools that they’re assigned to. I mean (Manny) Diaz has been by, (tight ends coach Stephen) Field has been by. O-line coach (Garin Justice) was here to get Ike (Issiah Walker). “But Mike Rumph? I don’t remember him doing that. I’ve met the coordinators, known Diaz for a little minute. ****, Field used to work for me. Hopefully, (T-Rob) will be another guy we have stop for them. … Like I said, I don’t mind my guys going to UM at all.”

This is negligence from the very top (Diaz) to Rumph. Reminds me of the Golden days. How does that happen? Don't salesman stop by potential customers just to say hello and maintain the relationship?

[edited to include a longer quote]

So let me see if I understand what you are saying.

You call this "negligence".

As if EVERY Miami position coach has to stop by every SoFla high school on a regular basis.

He then lists THREE Miami coaches (plus the coordinators) who have visited Norland. Meanwhile, the only decent DB from Norland since Rumph has been coach was Nadab Joseph.

Yet this is, somehow, "negligence"? When coaches have territories? Good lord, none of our coaches would ever be able to prepare for practices or games if every single one of them had to visit every high school on a regular basis.

Yeah, but "negligence". Lots of porsters can toss out lots of big words, without pausing to think of the impact.

Again, NOT defending Rumph, just trying to interject some logic into a ridiculous conversation.

Nah I don't think this excuse flies. You go build relationships no matter what. Sure, maybe less often I suppose if they don't have a particular prospect but you can't snub these coaches and then expect them to speak of you positively of you down the road if the school does have a prospect of interest.

To be honest Rump was treated like a scrub. He had no authority and the players new it.
Lol huh? You on staff? You must be some sorta..quality control specialist cause I don’t remember seeing “matt33” on the staff directory 😂..you got all the intimate details huh??..you got the video of that Rumph v Banda squabble? @caneinorlando holding out on us

If that’s not his area I don’t think we can call him lazy. If there was no prospect there for him to recruit and it’s out of his area then why would he need to stop there. UM had a presence there. You have to ask yourself what was the purpose of that article. The coach knows that not all coaches cover his school. The guy has been fired but for some reason we need to pour concrete on his grave. The guy bleeds orange and green!
👊🏿💯

Except we were building relationships. That school has an excellent relationship with the University of Miami. Case closed.
