Tears Nole Tears (“Offcial”)

Still not certain Norvell gets fired this year, the buyout is still above $50 million and goes down to $42 million after 27. FSU would need $50 million to fire the staff another $50 million to hire a new staff and then $20-25 million to build a competitive roster and I don’t think FSU has it. Things will get worse before they get better.

I saw on twitter an FSU fan asking if Norvell gets to 6-6, that might be enough to keep him for another year....yikes. That roster is dog **** (no pun intended) so I don't see them not being an embarrassment again, which is usually the catalyst for change regardless of $.

It would be a colossal **** up by the FSU admin to keep him, even if you have to take a crazy loan to fire his ***, you do it.

I could see them keeping him if they make a bowl game. As much as I want Norvell to stay there, them emptying the coffers to can him would make the next hire some bargain bin hire. Probably someone who got fired from his previous job.

I foresee them having to get bent over by private equity to find the money.

And then they'll get bent over again since they'll never be able to pay it back.

That and he's a terrible coach who can't recruit. 🤷‍♂️

oh man, talk about the beginning of the end for them....

honestly, it might be the best path forward for them. I know they've been talking about bringing jimbo back in some capacity as well since he still has a house in tally.

They are NOT going to go for another g5 hire, we all know that and they can't afford a splash big time p4 hire. So, they either have to go with a mid tier p4 coach or bring one of their old noles back into the fold to secure the fans. either way, lose lose.

Realistically, can they even get a non-G5 hire?

Even UF had to settle for a G5 hire.

UF made a gamble with 2 successive G5 hires. Sumerall is doing some good things.

I don't know that FSU would take that risk and risk it flopping on their face. They need as sure of a thing as possible because I don't think they can make a great under-the-radar type of hire. I don't think they have the AD to do that,

I can’t see him taking the job. I think he learned his lesson. FSU is in a similar position to where we were, but lacks the big tier boosters that stepped up when Mario came home.

It’s the same scenario - can’t recruit elite talent, would lack the resources to overcome it in most instances, and a rabid fanbase that will call for his head as soon as the losses start racking up.

Would be very funny to see though.

I could see Manny taking the job

I go back and forth too. Think it may depend on how long it takes to fire Norvell, and what's going on with conference realignment.

I see what you’re always saying, and I agree for the most part.

But here’s the thing, some might say that Manny at best is an average coach, and I think we can all say objectively that he is a below average recruiter, but he’s also smart.

So without strong financial support, including NIL, booster financial engagement, etc, , I don’t see him taking the job.

Only a dumb or desperate person that’s already a P4 head coach, would take a job at FSU under the conditions that they would face after cornrows got fired. Remember, if Prison Mike gets fired this upcoming season, that means FSU is down a big nut. In other words, a pretty big financial hole. The only reason Norvell is still there today is because they’re already in a financial hole TODAY, and that’s without firing him.
