See what happened to FSU with Norvell is the same trajectory Manny was going. Thats what happened when you keep them. We were smart and made the move everyone ripped us for. You knew it was the right move when the media was on Manny side, they aint want us back and we were proven right

I’ll say a couple of things in defense of Manny:

1) On paper, the program was on the upswing. We had absolutely bottomed out under Al Golden in 2012 with less than half of the blue chip players - just over 20 - that we had under Coker and Shannon. It had been a very slow rebuild since, and under Richt we took our first significant jump in talent acquisition in 2018, getting back into the 30s in sheer number of blue chip players. This continued and in some respects actually accelerated under Manny. He was a very early adopter of the transfer portal and by 2021 Miami had a blue chip count in the mid 40s. He landed two five star players in his last recruiting class.

2. He wasn’t responsible for recruiting offensive players when he was DC, and was left with a bad hand going into 2019 with a mediocre offensive line and an immature quarterback room. Of course, this wasn’t helped by his OC hire.

3. He had genuine emotion and enthusiasm. He tried. As in he pulled every lever conceivably in his three years to try to turn things around. Which I think is respectable. For him, it did not work out. I don’t think he was a villain at all, nor should he be lambasted. It just didn’t succeed and he and Miami parted ways.

Except the offense was the the positive especially after his first year

Trumpycane wants to remind you how bad his defenses were his 2nd and 3rd year

Oh, I agree on the defenses. He underecruited linebackers and defensive backs and it caught up to him by year 2 and 3.

In all honesty, they needed to be fired. Sometimes, as cruel as life can be, lessons are only learned through bad falls and fresh starts. We can give both of them credit for “getting back on the horse”, but it wasn’t going to happen here. More importantly, we have to give credit to our program for finally getting it on track, albeit, with some of the big donors and a coach with a Schnelly-like vision (CMR). I could be wrong, but I don’t think CMR knew the fire he was lighting, except, that he knew things needed to be improved, and did what he could. My opinion.

As a young kid, had my tonsils taken out, was about 8 yrs old. Back then( I’m old) they used ether as an anesthesia. I still remember that sound, the buzzing. I think that’s where the original name for “ catching a buzz” came from. Did a lot of drugs growing up, never replicated that Buzz. Except one night when I was in high school and was huffing Carbon Tet( cleaning fluid ) off a rag. There was that god awful Buzz,.. again. Yeah, HST was correct, “ rotten stuff”never did it again.

You kind of sounded like me even to getting your tonsils out at 8 until you got to the cleaning fluid…lol….growing up in Key West we always had good drugs ( good drugs?) and never had to resort to the glues and paint thinners etc.

Manny's problem is his defense is gimmicky and gets exposed and he HATES recruiting. he will be fine at Duke. He can't lead an elite P5 program.
