TALLAHASSEE – Does Saturday spell the end of the Mike Norvell Era? Probably not in practice.

But symbolically? Shoot…it's hard to envision a way in which this is salvageable.

I don't necessarily mean this season. Big-picture, it feels like trust has eroded rapidly from large portions of the fan base over the last year. And for those who were willing to give Norvell a pass for the abysmal 2-10 season to be rewarded with a 3-0 start and a win over Top 10 Alabama? Any rekindled goodwill has been set ablaze.

Three losses in a row to open ACC play has FSU at 20-23 in conference play under Norvell. Even if you take out the weird COVID year, it's 18-17.

Mediocre isn't an acceptable standard at FSU. Period. End of conversation. As my Uncle Tommy used to say while proudly ruffling his mustache, 'case closed.'

We can't keep doing this.
