You nailed it! Oregon comes out the winner here and it's not even close!
Oregon's plan worked.
Nice move by Knight. He never offered Taggart more money, just an extension. Taggart dips and they hire Mario and Leavitt for less than what they were paying Willie.
FSU looking real funny in the light
Miami came out the winner, but not Oregon. Sure they saved money but in the end they have Cristobal as their corch and had to pay Leavitt ridiculous money because even they know that this position maybe too much for him. Phil Knight is ****ed about all of this.
You do realize Mario is a great liar and coached under Nick Saban for several years. He is a better HC than Taggart
All that tells me is that Mario probably is superior in recruiting to Taggart. In general both are good recruiters but what in the world makes you think that Mario is better in anyway shape or form. Mario is 47 and a first time HC, he is getting roughly 40% less than Taggart was getting at Oregon and he is only 41. Based on those numbers and the fact that they shelled out retarded money for Leavitt, lets you know where everybody stands with Mario. Its a win for Miami, a **** position for FSU and complete dumpster fire for Oregon. We win because even though by all metrics Taggart is better than Mario, Taggart is nothing special, he is an Al Golden hire. He will say all the right **** but what has he really accomplished? We also win because Leavitt would have given a major credibility boost to Taggart's staff but Phil Knight outbid them. Both programs had to make major compromises and I guarantee neither is ecstatic where they stand right now. You think if Jimbo doesn't stretch this out and FSU starts the coaching search back when coaches like Chip and others were available, they still have Taggart #1 ? This whole thing ended going about as well as possible for us as it possibly could.
