The buyout is 85% of remaining base salary. They didn't play any games the last 8 months, hence the buyout not moving. Each game they play, the buyout drops ending at 46.5 million at season end.
I think the real story is Ole Miss, UF, LSU, Penn State, Auburn, and a handful of other jobs opened that were/are better than the FSU job last year. They were going to have to pay up to fire Norvell and then get embarrassed by Plan A, B, and C taking better jobs.
They'll fire him in October to be early in the coaching carousel this year is my guess.
It worked for Florida. They landed their top choice...
