Best approach is hybrid - using high school recruiting as your base and developing your own stars, and then the transfer portal to fill in key gaps or overcome experience shortfalls in certaing groups.

Florida State's challenge is that they haven't recruited at the high school level at the same velocity of Miami, and some of their biggest signings entered the transfer portal after 1 - 2 seasons.
There is no excuse for a coach to be there 5 years and not have high school players going pro from FSU. Even Golden produce 1st round picks. Multiple. The portal can also be used like high school recruiting in the sense that u can get underclassmen that u missed on or never even recruited. Like Lucas and Mesidor, who are than in your program for multiple years instead of 1 and dones. FSU is an embarrassment, Napier got to UF after as well and built a decent roster, if not elite, its better than FSU's.

As if "2023" is EVER going to happen again in Talla****inghassee...

I'm sure FSU fans aren't impressed with 2024 National Champs Ohio State because they didn't win the B1G
