Nobody feels sorry for us

If the defense just plays average (tackle better, get off the field on 3rd down), Miami rolls. ND has a lot of injuries on defense. Our line has been playing better and I think this sets up perfectly for Fletcher and Mallory to set the tone early. A long TD drive in the first Q will take the air out.

I’ve seen some other people mention it so I will echo it as well…let’s see more touches for Lofton, maybe some screens or even runs.
I could see Lofton having a big game. I also think Mensah and Barkate will recreate that connection from last year.

We have pretty much consistently played up for big games under Mario, while mostly “saving” our playing down moments for the teams we are >10 pt favorites against.

I’m confident this will likely be our best defensive performance to date (obviously excluding the games against <0.500 teams.

WRs line Wingo/Jacobs/Spafford just need to step up. But actually the ones that likely need to step up the most may be a guy like Briggs. I’m sure We will lean even more heavily into 12. But what we NEED is a big play explosive threat. I’d personally expect Moore to mostly shut down Barkate tbh. But if Briggs can be split out out of 12, and he’s a freshman, I could see him generating explosives….

We just need to play clean regarding tackles and penalties, something we’ve mostly been *** at all yr..

No. I felt we had the advantage with Toney, because Toney dictates the entire defense our opponent throws at us. He limits the aggressiveness that defenses play with severely, on top of blitz scheme and coverages.

ND will play us like no team has played us before schematically. We need to be really good in areas where we have not been very good this season.
Flip side: They have no idea what to plan for. Will we rely heavily on the run or try going downfield early and often.

I dont think our run game is something that needs to be looked out for. 65 has stabilized himself, but our run game still is not where it needs to be in order to win these games without your best weapon.

I believe they are going to dare us to throw downfield and make this a matchup based game. It will be our job to expose that schematically.

Mensah the best QB in America vs the blitz though. Where he’s struggled (if you call it that) has been when opposing teams get home with 4.

Well, there's a fairly big reason why he was so good against the blitz.

Some things the European mind just can't comprehend.

I'm not saying that he can spell Mali, but Upshaw at times has made me think he was wearing #1 out there. I don't think he has the hands or the same suddenness as Mali, but he can certainly be a solid slot WR in this offense.

Losing Mali sucks. No other way to put it.

However, ND is still ND. A team that steam rolls terrible teams and rarely beats the top teams on their schedule. There is a reason they do not join a conference. They have no incentive to. They consistently win 10 or 11 games because they purposefully water down their schedule. Their mantra is just get in the playoffs and see what happens, competition be damned. Point is they are not a juggernaut. Miami can still win this game without their best player. Lace your boots up boys!

Everyone needs to put their big boy pants on and that’s not just players , that goes for fans too. Everyone in America is dealing with injuries but most fans don’t pay attention to other programs to notice. Florida has been without their best wr most of the year. Ohio State lost their qb . Texas injury list has enough NIL cash on it to buy new BBL’s and ***** for the entire Kardashian and Jenner families, Caitlyn included. Then there’s the team we’re playing who has 4-5 guys possibly out this week and some for season.

There’s no replacing Mali but in a weird way maybe this takes pressure off the team and galvanizes guys. I’ve seen things like this workout in the short term. Us against the world type motivation.

The defense has already been getting trashed by fans and media (rightfully so). On top of that most had us already losing this game. Now we really have no shot and we lost our entire team with Toney injury. If this culture and team is what we think it is they should be chopping at the bit to step up and prove folks wrong. It’s called house money.

It’s game nine so guys like Spafford and Wingo are no longer Freshmen . It’s your time and this is why you come to a program like Miami.

Yes ,odds are stacked against the team but as I said I’ve seen weird things happen to a team facing adversity. On top of that nobody gives a **** or feels pity for Miami. Just like we didn’t for FSU when they lost Jordan Travis. Injuries are part of the game. Now shoot to survive until Mali comes back.
It’s harder without Mali, but team needs to galvanize & take care of business.

Maybe Upshaw can step up and make some plays if learns to catch a football.

Too much talkin on the net....Get on the field and do something!

I believe this front 7 suffers from big game syndrome. What this means is they simply take plays and games off. I believe they need a little extra motivation to meet their potentials. This is the game where they show what it means to be a defensive lineman on Miami. I believe they take over the game. They have done it before. Win the game for us boys, you are more than capable.

Any idea where Wilson has been the last month? Someone should file a missing person report on him.

It’s on Corey to finally step up and help Dawson. Got that big *** extension before the season. Earn that ****. If we score 24 we better ******* win.

I absolutely love your thinking. When I played BBall and was a Starter beginning High School. I blew out my knee on a dunk. Out for the season.

Team stepped up. Still won. And to be completely honest the backup behind me ultimate took my place. He was also really good. He was a scorer and I was more like Dennis Rodman.

This team is going to learn it can win without Mali, something it was always going to have to do. If he comes back with these guys already believing themselves, watch out, it could be beautiful.

Defense. Starts and ends with them boys finally having enough of the bull****.

We won back to back playoff games in which Mali had 30 yards and 20 yards, while fumbling 3 times. Time for the defense to ******* step up.
