It's strange how different this approach is to hiring a new coach from the past two. Coker, Shannon, and golden were all fired mid to late season and it was known that the admin was searching for a new coach with the help from outside consultants. This time around it seems like coaches are readily available and the admin has a consensus of who they need to interview. Was it just bad timing when hiring Shannon and golden or does a talented roster intrigue more people?

coker and shannon were both fired after the last regular season game at/around thanksgiving. not really comparable to when golden was fired during this season. we have a huge opportunity to find the right guy with over 1/3 of the season to go (and we'll probably still **** it up).

i don’t remember those seasons too too well to know what coaches were hot at the time but it was after the season and most teams had already probably been searching. This year there seems to be an abundant of “up and coming coaches”, fuente, vrenables, herman, etc. at the time and although there are quite of few schools looking for coaches, it seems like definitely a better pool of coaching candidates than at the time

All true! Especially the last part.

Completely agree. Firing Golden in mid-season definitely gives us more time to (hopefully) make a great hire...

Firing mid season and I'm sure having a 1st rd qb in Kayaa doesn't hurt. Next yrs team is much more talented than the Michigan team Harbaugh took over

Don't need no stinking pool of candidates. We can get the pool shark.

Please clarify. It's confirmed that there's no search committee? No consulting firms too?

I thought I read somewhere that they did hire Neinas again.

Please God no. Didn't he recommend Shannon?

Besides, all these "search firms" have competing interests. For example, the search committee that placed Herman in Houston is currently running USCe's search. You get my point.

I'm not 100% certain. It may have just been something another poster said here. Hard to keep track because there are so many threads on the coaching search.

They gotta go through the motions to look at what's on the horizon.

But at the end of the day, I'd say the decision is almost a foregone conclusion.

Butch Davis.

Low risk, low cost, great return.

29 First round draft picks are now alumni of the University of Miami because of who? Are well to do alumni the bread and butter of every University? If a professor who graduated 29 writers with #1 Best Sellers want to come back to THE U with a little taint of scandal after leaving in unpleasant circumstances, would not you take him back to get another couple dozen famous well heeled alumni? Gold just drops from Butch's ruby lips. Lets pick some more up. We don't need no **** search committee.
