No reason to worry about us firing Golden...

I am willing to bet he is going to leave on his own.

No doubt in my mind Brett Senior is working behind the scenes to get Al a mid major job for the same or slightly less dough.

This is the last chance Golden has to sell his brand.

He can sell "the cloud", having to play a freshman QB, the fundraising and improvements he has made to Miami, the fact that the stupid Miami fans want a Broyles candidate (Dnofrio) fired, etc.

I am pretty convinced Golden "gave up" on this situation after the FSU game. That would explain the Virigina performance where the team looked totally unprepared. If Golden had taken over the defense after GT, he certainly gave it right back to Dorito after the FSU game.

Golden knows he is not the right fit down here not to mention the media has completely turned on him. He tried like **** to bail last year.

The only question is whether he tries to ***** us by waiting until mid January to jump leaving our class in shambles. Al certainly wouldn't mind having the excuse of an abridged recruiting class at his new job.

It's our last hope and wouldn't be surprised if he did bail on his own terms with a positive spin

OP, good take. I said this in another thread, but when James said that the ONLY WAY GOLDEN WOULDN'T BE HERE WAS IF HE LEFT FOR ANOTHER SCHOOL...that resignated w/ me. He said that, RIGHT AFTER he mentioned how he wouldn't fire Golden. Why would there be a need to make the other statement if Golden is their guy? James and the BOT was not happy w/ Golden's weasel move to try to get to PSU. He's proven he's not trustworthy (strike one). This year we came in w/ national media attention as the overwhelming favorite to win the Coastal; not only did we lose out on the Coastal, we've been utterly embarrassed on National TV every time we've played. (strike two) Now, we've taken a step back in our recruiting and our overall winning record is down the toilet. (strike three). I don't care what lip service is given in public, the fact too much neg media attention is being given to Al and it's start to come to the Admin as well.

He would be a tough sell for any school in a power conference. I was hoping he won out and an 8-4 finish would land him another job. As it stands now I think hes to big a loser for us to get that lucky. Of course it happened with Haith so anything is possible.

I'm hoping behind the scenes they negotiate a buy out and he will step away due to his wifes health. Then he can resurface in a few years after a tv gig and sell himself to some AD that will listen.

I pray I'm wrong and that you're right, but I don't see it. I think our BOT is fine with us being a fair to middling team. I would expect with all of the players that he brought in that have had discipline issues and the fact that our on the field product sucks that torches would be lit and sabres rattling, but at least publicly that is not the case.

I do think he would be a perfect fit for the State University of NJ, and with his used carsalesman mojo, he could spin that as a positive step forward, e.g., wife gets to return to NJ, always wanted to return home, three pillars, brick by brick, and whatever other bs he can add to why he took another position.

i've followed politics and sports for a while (had no choice, actually), but this what i know...if a coach is really thee coach, there is no reason to defend him AND make up scenarios for losing him. when a team hires a guy, have you ever heard the gm or team president say "he's going to be here for as long as it's going to take, or unless someone takes him from us?" of course not...james is being politically correct, but he's double talking at the same time. by saying "unless he goes somewhere else", it leaves room for error. al could resign or get fired behind closed doors but allowed to say he's stepping down (see will muschamp at uf) and the next thing that will be said is, "al has decided that he wanted to move in a different direction for this reason or that reason." it's a coward move, but it happens all the time. let's just put it like this, by james public declaration, i wouldn't put golden at a 100% he's coming back, i would put it at a 55/45 and that 55 can swing in either direction come after the pitt game.

He's going to be a real hot prospect coming off a 6-7 season with a roster that has the best NFL talent in the country.

Miami's administration is fine with mediocre. They choose not to make the necessary investments in football to change that. This fat **** will keep stealing money as long as he can. I really hope there is a football equivalent of Missouri basketball that saves us from another horrible coach, but it seems like a long shot.

Don't agree. They fired Coker four years after back-to-back title game appearances, and they fired Shannon in year four. They've also upgraded facilities. The dilemma right now is they went all in on Golden and he proved to be a huckster.

The thing working in our favor is Golden chewed up a lot of his goodwill by going off the grid for an entire weekend and begging for the Penn State job. On top of that, he had another failed season with a loaded roster.

Paul "Kingmaker" DiMare just needs to ask himself if things are ever going to get significantly better under Golden.

But he accumulated that talent(other people believe that). He'll be a shoe in at William and Mary, or Northern Illinois. This is the highest his stock will ever be for the rest of his life, and that's a fact. He's got a chance to be a lifer, family taken care of forever. This is an actual possibility.

James never said that.

Don't get your hopes up, dude. This admin set out to destroy Miami football, and they have succeeded. They don't give a single **** about you, me, our proud football tradition, or anything else but keeping a spotless image and trying to become the "Duke of the South."

Except that Duke is better than us at football.

I wish I had your optimism Able

Al Golden gains nothing from leaving here. The only job he wanted was Penn State. If he takes a demotion and goes to a mid-major then he's showing everyone he's a coward and doesn't want to fight. Trust me I want him gone too but it won't happen. The only shot we have is if the Rutgers job opens up, and that isn't gonna happen this off-season.
