No one will be hired at Miami until January

Any chance Butch would accept a D-coordinator/ assistent Head coach position? Not that crazy about him as head coach, but Chip as HC and Butch as DC is a dream scenerio. Imagine Butch getting all the studs, and Kelly putting in position to dominate. Ok, il wake up now.

No, that simply rules out Bill Belechik, who will be coaching a February game.
 
I'd wait on Pagano or Kelly. Both are tremendous hires. Bottom line is we'll know next week at the latest if we are going NFL.
 
Any chance Pete Carroll would be in the mix after the NCAA troubles at USC? Seattle isn't doing much this season. His son was here for awhile.

I expect the leaks and traction to pick up after Friday if it is a college coach.

This is exactly how I'm thinking as well. Maybe this isn't going to be a total **** show.
 
The last game of the NFL season is not until January 3rd. As bad as the Eagles are they are only one game back of first place in their division. So basically Kelly is not going to be available for over a month.

Thats cool .. my fear is you wait until January and the big name fall through the cracks and then resort back to a coach you could have had previously ... meanwhile losing a few kids the will be among the best in the country in their prespective position

There would need to be strong indications that the coach would sign if we would wait that long. Or you know for sure you have Butch in back pocket.

Also - If Chip is going back to College (by choice)... he could announce that he is taking the UM or USC job on Sunday and get a start on Recruiting..

Big Diff if its January (not by choice) and you have 5 Weeks to patch work a class and get a staff...

Chip would be great ... but we really do need to salvage some of the recruits.. mostly the LBs. Simply cause we don't have any for next year.

Simply Put.. are we waiting for NFL guys who we KNOW are coming or just taking a risk that they might be interested?

I'm really not big on Kelly. I know he would revamp the offense but he has never had a good defense. I want to see miami going back to the days of having a nasty defense. If Kelly is the man they are targeting I hope to check he brings in a big time d coordinator. I also hope Miami doesn't sit around while all of the other schools are hiring coaches. What happens if everyone else on the list takes jobs elsewhere and then Miami gets turned down by their target hire?
 
Can't nfl coaches or assitants interview for other jobs before NFL season ends? Seems like there have been other NfL assistants named to be coach of a college and they still finish season with team
