He'd be a solid 2nd or 3rd saftety in a class. Like others have said i'm worrited hes more 5'9/5'10 instead of his listed height.
He is not 5’9. lol he’s 5’10 at the shortest, may be approaching 5’11.

Cortez Redding, Devin Jackson, and Tyriq Green would be great safety class, not elite but very close.
Cortez Redding and Devin Jackson have been my favorite safety prospects that have been offered by this staff from the very beginning, followed by Green.

Redding is an explosive ball hawk and can be a very good deep safety in this defensive scheme.

It’s only July, still time to flip Jackson and or Green

Also think good chance he ends up just being at nickle. Is tenacious with good break on the ball and instincts. I expect he'll be tried at both.

Te'Cory Couch at 25 years old is 5'10" 174lb., playing for the Buffalo Bills. When I see Redding, physically, it reminds me of Couch. Probably a little shorter and closer to 150-155ish. The frame is relatively small with tiny calves. Couch came into college extremely light also.

So when's the last time we had an 'instinctive' safety/nickel with an 'explosive' break on the ball? Clearly the measurables aren't ideal, but a 4 star, top 300ish take is fine by me. It's also worthy to consider that the portal brought us Poyser with at least two years of eligibility. I like to consider recruiting classes in 2 year intervals, and now factoring in the portal depending on the remaining eligibility of the takes. The safety position in totality needs improvement, however, given the plethora of corners (shockingly), someone should be able to transition.

As far as this Plan C stuff..Plan A, imo, is a small bucket with a few elite prospects (performance & measurables), Plan B a larger bucket with less than ideal characteristics, then Plan C is an expansive bucket with signing day flips from mid-major types. We ripped previous staffs for not having backup plans, now some want blue-chippers across the board..🙄.
