FSU PRESS RELEASE
dated: 11/2/2022

After careful consultation with our team, coaches, and faculty, our Student Band Corp will not be traveling to Miami on Saturday. Serious safety concerns were raised by members of both the football staff and the band composers, including but not limited to the structural integrity of Hard Rock Stadium, the quality of food and beverages, and exposure to sunlight. Of these points:

- Our band students and students who happen to be athletes are accustomed to a variable degree of motion when playing or sitting in Doak Campbell Stadium. This is per the vintage iron and wood construction of said stadium, with a high range of swaying. To be placed in a modern facility with current concrete and steel standards would be disorienting and places them at risk of motion sickness.
- Members of FSU are used to the highest quality of horse products, and on special days are served bread. Refreshments are provided through reconditioned rain water collected in the various gutters of Doak. To be served such alternate drinks as Powerade and Gatorade that are loaded with mystery ingredients such as "electrolytes" is potentially dangerous to health, and cannot be trusted
- Our players, fans, and band members are in direct exposure to sunlight, at all times, when playing at Doak. Removal of such vital lighting and heat is deleterious, even though the University of Miami and Hard Rock Stadium promises questionable "benefits" of something called shade. This too is to be avoided
Not to mention playing their diarrhea music to an appropriate team performance causes turrets among the band members…

The rest of it is fine, if they wanna make **** up and say we throw food at them or we give them terrible seats, that’s fine. Don’t care. But if it’s true we told them they can’t perform at halftime, that’s foul. And petty. I’m usually too busy doing key bumps in the bathroom at halftime to notice, but I’m pretty sure they’ve performed in the past, no? If so, and this year we said no, that’s BS. Let them bring their ****** band and play the 1 song those dorks can learn.

I’d love to know the real story about the discussion that were had about their halftime performance.

It's UM homecoming and too many other half-time festivities going on for them to perform. If it were anybody else coming in they would be told the same thing. They'll probably have a small group rent-a-band if nothing else.

Festivities? lol we have like a 7 person band and it’s a bunch of kids in unmatching Hawaiian shirts.

I know for a fact we’ve played FSU in the past on homecoming too. If those times we told their band they couldn’t perform, then so be it. But if this is new, it’s lame. I sure as **** won’t miss them and that stupid *** chant, but bring your little band with you, they can watch you get your *** kicked too.
