Fwiw lane still runs the ball well at ole miss. We took their rb coach and they had multiple 300 yard run games. No one is saying never run. Just do what you do well. If it’s run then run if it’s pass pass. The regret the staff has by not accepting the roster as it is and conforming to it is the issue. Hopefully it’s all bs but I already saw a stubborn d coach try to force his system here.

Could be be we are lacking on the offensive line as well. Like I don't know how Bama runs this one running play and always gets yards. Maybe they hold every play? I dont know

He believes you have to run to prevent the other team's O from getting a chance to pass.
 
We {were forced to} threw the ball way too many times Saturday {, because our running backs can't run through the squirrel-**** creases our o-line created way too many times}

I didn’t read it as I want to run no matter what but I think his quote is stupid. He should just say we want more balance.

It’s up to him to try and create that balance and some Saturday’s, it’s not going to work out but he has the QB to help him with that.

Agreed. The issue is the redzone. In between the 20s has looked pretty good to me. 400 yards of offense against Texas AM outgaining them by about 100 yards and only 9 points. 550 yards of offense against UNC, again outgaining them by almost 100 yards and only 24 points. I'm not even including MTSU because that was just an pile of hot trash.

Bottom line to me is coaches need to figure out how to score more points. Either come up with better plays in the redzone or figure out how to score from outside the 20. And no more flee flickers. This isn't the 1980s.

I was about to type this. We have one great offensive player, use him as much as you can.

it'll be a ton of dogfights but I agree w this. if we lose to VT, im advocating for firing the entire staff minus Mario on monday and that will be known as the new black monday

As long as someone is willing to adapt in-game then it doesn't matter what they prefer to do. Obviously, we need to run it better to be successful that much is clear. A balanced team in the modern era can win running the ball or throwing the ball 50 times if you have to in any given game, but that does not mean it is what you need to strive for weekly.

This offensive line is still very weak in the run game, can't get any push back with these guys. We also have player depth problems on the O line. Until the O line is upgraded along with our RB room expect to have a sub par run game, against any team with an average D. Mario definitely needs to concede this year like it or not, that we are a pass first offense with TVD until we get the horses on the o line. Don't try and force a square peg in a round hole!

I think he can but the OC who had two weeks to change the offense like he did vs UNC (credit where it’s due) still had two weeks to change his Red Zone offense.

He didn’t so I am hoping for 8-4 now but if he doesn’t fix the red zone it’s not going to happen. Ridiculous the run vs 9-10 guys in the box no matter what mentality.
