No chance Diaz and Blake are both back

What Blake did to Manny before the NCST game and trying to distance himself as some authoritarian that would fire Manny should he lose another game (Cribby has pretty much confirmed Manny was gone with that loss) is now literally his downfall. If TVD and our offense don’t come alive that game, Manny is likely gone and Blake lives to fight another day. Pretty funny how life works out sometimes.

It's what snakes and weasels would do. Blake James is a snake weasel

Then the AD would be failing in his first eval and should be fired if that’s the case
They'll make the new AD hire in a timeframe so late that it will only allow that person to send some feelers toward Luigi. We'll hear they made "a strong run" at Cristobal and that there were no other "homerun" options this late in the process so giving Manny another year where it was made clear to him that it's "make or break" ended up as the best choice.

I'd say a "real" AD would then make an immediate change somewhere else in the program but I'm not sure that's even possible. Mayyyybe if L's squad really blows this year then you'd see something there as they're not gonna can Tomato King Jr before baseball season starts.

Yeah, HC telling the media that the AD is openly undermining him is not a good sign. I think Diaz has more friends on the BOT than James. Devils bargain but I'd rather see James get fired and Diaz stay than the other way around. If Officer Hightower evaluates the program and decides to retain Diaz for one more year (through the end of his contract) , I will respect the decision.

Is Cristobal such an upgrade over Diaz that he's worth paying over 15+ million more? Im skeptical (9 million buyout plus 7 million salary, on top of buying out Diaz). This isn't an endorsement of Diaz, just a cost-benefit analysis. Diaz is in such desperation mode that a strong AD could tell Diaz, "if you want to be here next year then you must fire Patke, hire an elite LB recruiter and then hire a DC who has complete autonomy over the defense. Money is not an obstacle. Here is a short list of DC candidates we've already prepared for you" and he would do it without question.

If Blake is gonna get fired why wait until the end of the football season ? He’s the AD , there’s technically no “end of the season” for him right ? Let his *** go now.
Apparently he’s curried favor with some of the BOT who want the poor guy to line something else up before “choosing to leave us.” Rich people games.

Now Manny is desperate to save his own job and throws Blake under the bus. Grrrrrrreat.
Good for Manny. Blake is a snake. If I am Manny, I am taking Blake with me.

By doing this, it assures Blake has to be fired as no credible head coach would take the job knowing that Snake James turned on the head coach he hired in order to save his job.

I'm certainly not the best guy around here to be making the case for Luigi. 🤣

I think what you're prescribing could be one of the "best case" scenarios (relative to the general ineptitude of our administration) though if they proceed in a manner like I predicted where a new AD comes in very late. Because at least what you're saying involves the new AD being competent AND flexing immediate muscle instead of just shrugging their shoulders and being like "Well you got another year but watch your back, buddy! Let's see what you can do!".

Could explain why Alonzo Hightower was there this past weekend
The "Pacemaker" Mitchell Irving was there as well.

Here's the problem with that: no elite DC will take the job for a lame-duck head coach even if you guaranteed his salary. Same with an LB coach. Cristobal is the only realistic head coach we can get that is an upgrade over Diaz.

So if you can't get him and the rest of the coaches that are interested would not be a clear upgrade, then yeah it would be worth it so just keep Diaz.

What competent DC is going to hitch their wagon to Manny when hanging on a do or die life line for one year? Only thing I can see happen is that Shoop will take the DC position. Maybe we can hire some more analysts. Maybe a few other changes on defense involving position coaches.

Football coach and AD both clearly suck at their jobs and take shots at each other on a weekly basis but UM won't fire either of them (publicly). Only Miami. Too many spineless idiots in charge.
Need to get Joey Crawford in charge, he will toss both of them in a heartbeat, just like Tim Duncan.
