No BS...What is the magic number for Golden???

I need to see some improvement. Anything less than 7 wins, and I'm going to start questioning whether Coach Golden is the right fit.

That has got to be the most intelligent and insightful post of the year. Undoubtedly inspired by the aura of the Golden One, Himself.

No such thing. If there was a magic number he would have been gone after going 6-7. If you think the BOT is going to shell out 4 years of salary to terminate him, when they wouldn't shell out 5 you are dreaming. He is here to stay, regardless of the on the field results, to save a few million dollars.

while I agree that C-A-Ggot already has a laundry list of fireable offenses and another 6-6 type season shouldnt be needed to fire him, I think that the Shalalalala leaving combined with the buyout MAY have been the reason why they balked on firing C-A-Ggot.

now with the new pres, maybe just maybe we can get somewhere. thats our only hope

its been reported the new prez aint gonna get involved in the sports department.

The B.O.T seem to not like Golden; wonder if the added B.O.T clout will be enough for blake to axe golden if another sup par season occurs.

Nothing can erase his inepitude.

Guy is NOT a winner. While he talks a good game, he cannot walk the walk.

Ship sailed a LONG time ago. fire the ******* and lets move forward!

Not firing him after 6-7 means its mostly money related. Dont want to pay a guy to not coach.

At a certain point you have to weigh the alternative. Any similar result to last year (or worse) the financial impact of having him continue to coach is outweighed by paying him not to.

Thats why i say 8 wins...2 game improvement, exceeding expectations and maybe a decent win sprinkled in there to build on or sell to the fanbase that things are moving positively post cloud.

I say he gets fired even with 8 wins. Ten wins gives him another year. 9 wins puts him on the bubble, it would depend what other coaches are available in December. (do I hear Gruden calling?)

I'm rooting for him to go 15-0, but I'm expecting a new coach next year. I think the U will finally open the purse strings for a more proven coach and give him the resources he needs to compete in the ACC.

Im strictly talking about how many wins to keep his job for 2016. Take all your hate for the man, the admin, etc. and put it to the side...whats the true number?

I think it is 7.5...I think 7 wins and under he is out, 8 wins and he gets another year.

I guess the other question is - is there really a magic number or does it depend on other things - i.e. who did he beat, how did the team improve, etc..?

I think the real question that should be asked is... how many games does he have to win to keep this top 5 recruiting class?

My number is 9 and a bowl game victory. I'm not sure that will happen. But anywho... Go Canes!

Winning doesn't matter so no number. Champions are built in different ways according to Golden's boss

With the way this BOT is operating, the only way he gets let go is if he gets less than 4 wins. The excuse machine will come flying to keep his job based on his little SWAG16 blah blah and they will buy into it like they always do and talk down to us like they always do. The only way there is change is if there is a complete and utter meltdown to go along with only winning 3 games. Not gonna happen.....

To me it seems like Golden doesn't trust Ice and Kevin Beard. Just hearing what Dorito was saying in that board room was troubling.

If he is able to properly refinsh the pillars and use premium bricks to lay his foundation during his 5th oops.....I meant 2nd year then I think we have a chance

We Back!?!?!?

need to start at top and replace Blake then AL.... all major programs have stud AD"s I would be willing to bet Blake doesn't even have a short list
if Golden fails

Golden's magic number is whatever his buyout will be once he gets fired at some point this season.

^^^^ This! Golden's act has been running thin, despite him keeping his job. The way he finished the 2013 season both on the field and off the field caused major issues. After the 2014, it was widely reported that it was a Mexican standoff between Golden and the Admin regarding firing him and HIS BUYOUT. Golden punked us, we tucked our tails, and Viola, he's still the coach. Golden f's up this year, w/ the buy out not being nearly as high and his pitbull no longer on watch, he's gone.

W/ our schedule, I see us starting 4-0, and then the wheels will come off after the FSU game...I see Golden gone before the Pitt game.

unfortunately 8 wins is good enough for the administration.

I'm not sure the fans can be won back, but getting at least 10 wins and the ACC title is a start.
