N'Kosi Perry looked meh...

LOL at all the JW15 Slurping. I really think it's the BBB crew so they can bash CMR about something else.

Lets look at what is being said about JW15....
He threw a tight spiral -- Ken Dorsey never threw a spiral while here, kyle wright had a pretty ball. Nuff said
He looks the part -- HAHHAHAHAHAAHHAHAAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHA
He was poised -- HAHAHHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHA up 63 vs Sav St. That's poise

We really do have delusions about our players. Kosi stares down receivers but Williams is just a natural? Williams looked at Ezzard the whole time, but it was amazing and he should start based of that

Im a say either Weldon or Williams. Even over Malik. Nkosi looked scared and like he wasnt reading anything just doing what he already planned. Jaren and Weldon looked like much more adept runners and even like they were reading the D a little. Really need to see more of these guys next week. Right now I would have Weldon and Jaren as numbers 1s battling it out with Malik as number 3 and Nkosi and 4th. Malik has proven he is a practice player who just cant bring to the game what he did in practice. Red shirting Jaren wouldnt be a bad play at this point if there wasnt much difference between him and Weldon.
How did Kosi look scared? This is the made up sheeet from fans that baffles me. He looked scared hahaha LOL

Williams had a horrible read on the rpo where he took a tfl and should have handed the ball off and had a 2 yard touchdown run but looks like the more adept runner?

I don't think anything was decided by any of the three young guys tonight. It was really more about them getting live action in a game versus someone other than a UM defensive player. I think they all did some good things. And in my opinion, you can't take much from JW's 1/3 passing - all three balls were really well thrown and his second pass was on the money to Pope, he just slipped on the turf and fell before he caught it. He even laughed and indicated it was on him. The ball to Njoku in the endzone was well placed and the DB made a great play.

I hope they all get more time next week against Toledo: I fully expect Malik to remain the starter going forward. I doubt that changes unless he either gets hurt or perhaps has a really really bad performance as we go into the start of the ACC competition. I hope CMR continues to work them in every game - UNC is awful this year and that game should also be one we can use for the younger guys. If CMR does this we should all see who takes a step forward with more game experience before FSU.

Personally, I liked Williams the best. But he also played mop up when we were up by 50-60 points. Savannah still had some juice in them when Perry was in. All three freshmen QBs need more game snaps to evaluate them properly.

For me, the real takeaway was that Rosier wasn't better than any of them, and was arguably worse. I know Richt will start Rosier again next week. But hopefully it's 2 series not 4, and then we turn the others loose. Every snap Rosier takes is one less rep to choose the future starter from among these kids and prepare them for ACC play. Hopefully by Game 4, one of the others comes out on the first series.
You liked Williams the most based on 3 throws?

Read vs Runner. Not sure how you confuse the two. Williams had a little wiggle and looked quicker and had better size to take some hits. Nkosi didnt even look like he was trying to make reads. They overplayed the run and he missed several ops to stop them from doing that and picking up 5 yds. He also threw the ball right to the defender. I didnt get the sense that dude was doing anything other than the thing he determined to do when he left the huddle. No RPO works consistently without someone who is comfortable making reads and reacting. Yeah he is young, but so is Weldon and Jaren and they didn't seem to be as stressed. I was open to any of them before that game, but after seeing that and who looked the most natural out there thats how I see it.

None of the QBs looked bad to me. They all made some good throws and they all had a bad throw or two. Nobody stunk it up, which is very encouraging.

Rosier is pretty much what he’s always been. Nothing jaw-dropping, but accurate enough when he has plenty of room to set his feet, but turns to shlt when he’s forced to move around in the pocket. He can’t throw an accurate ball under pressure to save his life, and he still misses some head scratchers here and there. He threw a bad ball behind Langham on a designed roll out, but a nice jump ball to Mallory and he hit Thomas in stride for a long TD.

Perry looked a little jittery to start with, but hit some passes and really settled down and played well. He didn’t wow me with his mobility like I was expecting, but he was able to hit TEs and RBs on some check downs, which was nice to see. I don’t mind him staring down Cager on the TD slant. IMO, that was actually a positive thing to see. He identified the mismatch pre-snap and as soon as Cager broke inside of the much smaller defender he delivered a strike. I may be in the minority on this, but I WANT my QBs eyes to get as big as saucers when he sees 6’5” 220 matched up in single coverage against 5’9” 185.

Weldon looked a little shaky in his debut as well, but overall didn’t play poorly.

Jarren looked the most comfortable among the backups, but in limited work.

Overall, I was encouraged by what I saw.

Why is Weldon entirely discounted in these convos? Few of us get to watch practice so all we have is the game yesterday and a few scrimmages. To me he looked the most athletic of the 3. Thought he and Williams threw with most conviction.

It's too early to make a call on any of them.

Savannah St is the worst team in the MEAC & quite possibly all of college football, they're moving down to Division 2 next year.

This was the first game that any of the 3 QB's have ever played in, none of them had ever thrown a pass before in a real game until now. You can't judge any of the 3 off this one game.

They all made some plays, but it was against a team that's no better than a Juco squad. Neither Jarren or Weldon got to play enough for anybody to crown either one of'em. They were playing mop up duty late in the 3rd (Weldon) & late in the 4th (Jarren) vs 3rd/4th stringers when the game was already out of reach.

Yall should wait to see how they look in a real game vs Toledo, UNC or FSU before crowning or throwing away any of them. And as for 2019, long long ways til Fall camp 2019, things are bound to change over the next year, both good & bad for all 3. Just give it time.

For me, I knew we were going to drudge Savannah State. But from what I saw, all 3 freshmen looked better than Rosier going against the same defense.

I don't think anyone's crowning either of the 3 as the next great QB. But we saw them in year 1 and/or (depending on the QB) do things that Rosier couldn't do.

Rosier's completion percentage is misleading. He struggled to start the game, but started getting his rhythm on short bail out routes. He then finally hit JT in stride which allowed him to gain a ton of yardage for a long TD. That's who Malik is though, he'll get a lucky pass off every now and then, but he'll struggle for the most part.

I might give my left nut for Stephen Morris at QB right now with the speed we have at WR right now.

He had an elite arm no doubt.

But my biggest complaint about Morris has he didn’t throw a very catchable ball. His shorter/intermediate throws were always rockets that the receivers struggled catching. They usually caught with their bodies, falling in the process. Rarely could guys just catch with their hands in stride. Not a lot of YAC with Morris. Everything looked forced, on shorter throws.

This. You know it’s a sad state of affairs at the QB position when we are pining away for Snickers and his rockets off the helmets of our OL.

After watching Samford’s offense, it’s so obvious that our system is elementary. I mean other than JT, we never have WRs open. There is always a DB draped all over him.

You guys have to see that this system is crap. Even Aranda called us out BEFORE the game.

We had receivers open all game over LSU. Malik just missed them. Orgeron also called out our WR unit after the game that it was the best he'd ever seen.

I wish one of these guys would show they'll take the job from Rosier....unfortunately, it was not in this game. Yes, Rosier was again horribly off in the first 2 drives of the game. That one on 3rd down where he rolled to his left was particularly atrocious.

However, he did finish 8 of 12 and the bomb to JT was perfectly placed (amazingly). Hopefully Richt gives the young guys opportunities next week as well and they take advantage of it. IMO, it's tough to say any of these younger guys earned the right to take the starting spot from Rosier so far.

That's what Malik does. He'll once in a while make a great pass; but he's inconsistent, and that's the worst thing to be as a QB. Most of his completions didn't go pass 5 yards to the receiver.

To a starving person a saltine cracker looks like a steak. Yall some starvin ****'s if you liked what you saw from Perry tonight against maybe the worst team in CFB. He isn't that accurate, he stares down receivers, and he doesnt make smart plays. From what I saw at the spring game and tonight Jarren Williams clearly has the most upside. I do agree we have to get some other guys in the game, but I just do not like Perry as much as I like Williams. Weldon also looks faster then Perry. I dont know mane

I haven’t seen JW play, either in the spring scrimmages or yesterday. If he did show more than the other QBs, then he should start regardless of his experience. If he is the QB of the future, then let him take his knocks now instead of next year. That way he’ll be ready to shine with a superb supporting cast of receivers and RBs.

Toledo, FIU & UNC will tell yall everything you need to know.

I'll say what I already said, this was their first start ever in an actual game & the opponent they played was the worst team in FCS football, no exaggeration the WORST.

None of them have had to orchestrate a 9/10+ play drive pinned down on their own side of the field on the road against a legit Defense with loud crowd in a hostile environment.

If you're crowning any of the 3 you're being foolish. Do you think any of these 3 could handle a tough road game at night against a Defense like Va Tech in an environment like Blacksburg? Maybe they can, but this game against Savannah St where they had mostly short field possessions against backups tells us absolutely nothing.

Practices leading up to Toledo, FIU & UNC are what's most important right now, Perry & Weldon should be getting more 1st team reps, and hopefully if we handle our business & put these weak teams away early we can get the young QB's more work in meaningful games against real Defenses. This way if Rosier is struggling during the bulk of ACC play we can be comfortable if he gets benched for one of the youngins & they're not coming in completely green.

As much as I want a new QB I don't think Richt is going to bench Rosier just yet, not until he plays bad again which is likely to happen. And as much as yall might want Jarren to play now, he's going to be redshirted. He'll play due to the new 4 game rule, but he will not start this year.

He also looked like a redshirt freshman with his first live game reps.

This is a stupid take.

He should look comfortable and poise playing vs walk ons.

Really? Nkosi and Cade were jacked and nervous and had to settle in for the most part. Jarren looked calm and poised on his first throw which was his first college play. That's all I got out of last night.
