NIL Money For High Schoolers

But you’re drawing conclusions with no evidence at all; you’re assuming that because a kid lives in certain neighborhood that he’s going to get robbed or killed just because he has a hypothetical amount of NIL money...

You’re making the argument that kids in the inner city shouldn’t be allowed to make money because they could get killed... That’s a really really stupid argument.

What facts support that kids with NIL deals will be robbed & killed? Name one case of a NIL recipient that was robbed or killed?
Nil just started. Lol

I never said only inner city kids shouldn't be paid. Nice leap you took there.

I said the people that will make the most money will come from the inner cities because that's where the best talent is.

You are looking for racism in something that isn't racist. If I had said pay the kids from the suburbs but not the kids from inner cities then you'd have a point.

Kids are allowed to make money off YouTube...

But kids can also get shot in a school shooting.

Kids shouldn’t be allowed to make money on YouTube anymore.
my buddy owns the largest influencer merch company out there right now. I can ask him if any are in danger since hes got deals w all the major influencers out there (including the Paul Brothers and Cavinder Twins).

so kids shouldn't get paid but adults can take advantage of their fame and attempt to profit off of it, schools and websites can drive traffic and advertising dollars off these kids, but the kids themselves shouldn't get paid bc someone may get killed over jealousy?
you think adults in their lives won't take advantage of them once real money starts rolling in?

I've had a few of those YouTube kids that are a bigger deal then most hit me up. Two of them I can think of get hit semi regularly and one in la has to pay rolling 60s so he has protection now. Would that be happening if he wasn't putting himself in the limelight?
Rappers get extorted all the time and they have security. But it won't happen to high-school kids.

so if a reg HS student that goes to Miami Norland creates a company in HS and sells it for a large sum of money (true story from my HS w two of my classmates (not NHS but their neighbor right up ives dairy), would they now be in danger? should they not be allowed to sell that company bc the real money rolled in?

Money can make people lazy. Don't get me wrong, it happens to young men in college or the pro's. The percentage would be greater in high school. I've seen too many high school kids get a look, think they've made it, and get all lazy their last year or two. That opportunity is gone, maybe would've happened anyway, but some just flat out quit working.

thats work ethic. they quit working bc their work ethic sucks.

Lmao. Alot of absolutely nothing. Remarkable actually.

Lesser ***? Thought we were all equal?

So you're saying I'm guilty of being what? Let's hear it.
Haha.

Try to keep up. Again - that's Hamlet. Something every kid in America is forced to read in the 10th grade. If you were absent that day, I apologize.

You don't need me to tell you what you're guilty of.

we should all be broke
It's such a ridiculous argument... "We can't pay someone b/c they might get robbed". Should we stop rich people from giving nice things to their kids?

I personally dont like the path this is going down and I realize that yes, it is a concern that when you have money - and particularly if you/your family are not used to having money - that it opens you up to a lot of people who want to take advantage of you, but I don't think that is a valid reason to justify not giving money to people.

pro athletes have issues w families taking advantage of them but no one stops them from getting 100 million dollar deals.

anyways, NIL or not, kids have been getting paid to play forever now.

I get it. Im pro capitalism. I just see this going bad for alot of kids growing up in a generation where life isn't considered valuable.

If it ain't broke dont fix it.
It was broken. It was exploitative as **** before. Everyone getting paid EXCEPT the talent. That was crap, and I’m happy that these kids can make money legally.

Personally I don't have any problems with kids getting it. I see much MUCH more of a problem in making it public knowledge. Especially when 9 out of 10 it's greatly exaggerated what they're getting.

Man up and say it. Dont hide behind your doth protest to much crap.

Never read hamlet. Read a tale of two cities, diary of a slave girl, lord of the flies.

If NIL just started then how do you know for a fact that kids will be robbed & killed because of NIL? What evidence are you basing that claim on?

If your issue wasn’t inner city kids being potentially robbed & killed, then why did you mention inner city kids in the first place? What point were you driving at? Because if inner city kids will get robbed & killed then that means kids from Upper-middle class can’t or won’t be robbed & killed?

I’m not looking for racism at all, I’m trying to understand your logic that kids shouldn’t be allowed to be compensated for NIL because teenagers are jealous & live in the inner city? I don’t see how any of that makes any sense...

You’re making assumption based arguments that don’t actually have any foundation in reality except for what you THINK might happen vs what actually has or hasn’t happened. That’s the equivalent of saying because some Banks have been robbed before that all Banks should be closed to public in order to prevent them from being robbed.

It’s a nonsensical fallacy argument that based on anecdotal perceptions.

When was this?

new study finds that today’s teens are taking longer to grow up than generations past, with researchers pointing to time spent online as the reason why.
