It’s also not that hard to get out of it… like we can’t say on one hand the stadium deal and GOR are breakable but an apparel contract is like being in a North Korean prison…

We’re leaving Adidas and the ACC…. Just a matter of time… and message boarding… which at times is a lot like water boarding…

In fairness to Mario, we’re a basketball school, so let winners make the decision… 😎

With the connections to Mas I’ve always been surprised we haven’t been more aggressive towards a deal with them to develop the freedom park site as a joint stadium with inter Miami. I know it was explored then I never heard anything more about it. Obviously would need to be more than the planned 25k capacity.

Couple of issues.

First, the stadium is apparently within the MIA takeoff/landing approaches, and there is a height limitation on the soccer stadium that would also limit capacity.

Second, much of the parking at the soccer stadium is going to be underground, which is not exactly "tailgate-friendly".

I have frequently cited the idea of purchasing Magic City Casino and the dirt-mall immediately north of it, and then working out a JOINT project where BOTH the soccer and football stadiums could pool the parking.

Lots of "anti-stadium" types continue to nitpick my ideas.

All that makes sense and seems to make it not feasible at all. Magic city site would be nice minus the traffic in and out, but I guess similar to OB issues traffic wise.

It would never happen and it would also be a logistical nightmare but can you imagine a stadium on the Key, at the old Miami open site. Just the camera shots that would produce would be amazing. Zero chance it would ever happen but still…

The Matheson family, who successfully sued to get the tennis tournament OFF Key Biscayne, would never allow football to replace it.

The advantage that Magic City would have over the old Orange Bowl is that you could access the facility via 27th, Douglas, or LeJeune exits off of 836, whereas you could only use NW 12th and NW 17th at the OB, plus you had the drawbridge complicating matters.

Inter Miami not planning to build larger stadium

Inter Miami CF said that they do not plan to build a 40,000-seat stadium that could accommodate University of Miami Hurricanes football games, after initial approval from the city of Miami’s Planning and Zoning Appeals Board.

Bro, I went into great, extensive detail to warn this board about what was going to happen. Literally step by step.

So let’s re-examine 2015:

-Mark King comes on board as President of Adidas North America in 2014. (First off, I’m a big fan of his from a business, strategic side). He promises Adidas would regain strength in the N.A market.

-Adidas loses several big brands in 2014:
-Notre Dame (UA)
-Michigan (JB officially in 2016)
-UTenn (Nike)

Adidas looks to rebound & they make us a very generous offer, which includes us being the highest paid University in the state of Florida that’s sponsored by Adidas & the highest paid ACC school. We were told we would become Adidas’ version of Oregon.

-Blake signs a dummy contract for 12 yrs, neglecting to read fine prints. I’m going to assume legal check various items, including hearing the pitch, and Blake being AD was entrusted w/ this decision

-Mere months later, the real priority reared its head in the form of nepotism, UL. UL signs a 10 yr $160m contract! This contract dwarfed ours by a country mile (violation 1). To make matters worst, this contract was influenced by conflict of interest as UL’s former AD (Thomas M. Jurich’s) daughter is a Marketing Executive for Adidas (violation 2)

Regardless, I specifically told the board u will find out quickly how much of a priority we are IF we don’t start winning. If we don’t start winning, Adidas will turn its attention elsewhere, just like they did w/ UofM. Enters 3 yrs later, UDub. UDub had just came off a successful CFP appearance in 2016 w/ their Nike contract ending in 2017. What did Adidas do? Make them their flagship school in The PAC-12 w/ a staggering 10 yr $119m deal. lol

The fact is we would’ve been Adidas’ flag ship school if we made them look good. Just like Michigan didn’t really do chit while sponsored by Adidas, neither did we. Just like Adidas started prioritizing other schools above UofM although that was supposed to be one of their priority schools, they did the same w/ us. But, I told ya’ll what would & was going to happen, including informing u they were blowing smoke up our ***.

But hey, at least we made a lil coin from them, I guess.

Now, we will probably terminate that deal early, maybe a buyout, maybe a settlement.

But it's not just Mario's decision. And I know Alonzo wants out too, as do a ton of other alums. But it's a legal matter involving millions of dollars, Mario can't just snap his fingers and make it happen overnight.

has nothing about getting out. Mario has a choice to tell adidas to switch jersey concepts.
