Wonder also if maybe the staff has cooled on him. Things with Bethel have seemed shaky for a while now. Not every kid who decommits was some stud that was "stolen" away, much like Edouard. Sometimes kids get the message when the staff stops returning calls, and starts to slow play them.

Im NOT saying that is what happened here, but the Texas Tech thing is WAY out of left field. Lets also not forget that this kid has been begging for a UGA offer for months now too.

I'm on the Golden sucks bandwagon, but there is truth here. Staff wasn't happy with this kid for a while.

And this would also make OT's tweet. He's a friend.. and is happy he landed somewhere decent.

@COACH_T_Y: We going to lose our recruits on D cause nobody wants to play in our scheme.

Idiot.

Grades are the issue. What's frustrating is that it either caught the staff by surprised or the staff purposely knew but didn't hedge their bets by recruiting other local DBs. Either scenario - bad.

Going to hold on to all the kids we had on paper three months ago.

That's the biggest problem. They didn't have contingency plans in place even when the signs were there.

Bethel leaving isnt really what is bad. He's obviously not a high priority kid. The issue is the attitude of the locals and the perception of our beloved program. Things are getting bad. Real bad.

8:30 p.m. update: UM lost a key oral commitment tonight when Booker T. Washington 4-star cornerback Nigel Bethel announced he's flipping to Texas Tech. "Better opportunity for me at Tech," he said. Bethel had criticized UM's defensive scheme but said that didn't factor into his decision.

That leaves UM with three-star Miami Northwestern prospect Ryan Mayes as the only cornerback in the class, though at least two of UM's three safety commitments are possibilities to play cornerback, and Carol City receiver Trayone Gray also can play corner. And UM remains in the mix for four-star CB J.C. Jackson, a soft UF oral commitment.

Meanwhile, UM also stands at risk of losing another four-star oral commitment: Deerfield Beach running back Brandon Powell. Three days after Al Golden announced Powell would be a part of this UM class, he told The Miami Herald that's he rethinking whether to come here and is now considering UF. Powell was expected to enroll Wednesday but reportedly hit a snag with his transcript.

He said he will make a decision in the next day or so.

I love um but its official its old power who cant keep in these times no matter whos coach. If coaches dont want 2 coach here they kno suttin wrong. Until we get a stadium is my only excuse.

lol Research Alabama before Saban got there and how many coaches and years it took them to get back... While your at it research USC too before Pete Caroll.. But a Cane fan who hopped on the bandwagon because he seen guys in the league reppin us wouldn't know this stuff... FSU just got back after more than 10 years of being mediocre.. And guess what they have all the facilities like Bama and they sucked longer than we have..
