You're right - here's some recent Miami Safety 40's

Redwine - 4.45
Meriweather - 4.47
Phillips - 4.48
Jenkins - 4.51
Gunter - 4.62
Bush - 4.64
Carter - 4.64
Johnson - 4.69
Weight adjusted Jenkins had a solid 4.51 being 6’1 215 at the combine

Redwine working his way up the boards.

Jaquan will be fine, he has as good of instincts as any DB in this draft. Some of these other dudes are combine warriors and nothing more.

The Raiders need to draft Mike Jack at 27 or 35, 6'1, 210 running 4.46 with ball skills, physical in the run is a excellent Blitzer (3 sacks in 2018) and a need at corner opposite Conley 🗣📢

Worley was serviceable... Jackson will be there w their third rounder

I’m not sure anyone thought Jaquan was going to blow them away at the combine; but a 4,69 and 4.74 are crazy

He ran a 4.68 and 4.75 in HS- so these 40's are consistent with ho fast he's always been.

I love Jaquan as a player - but unfortunately he looks like a great college player who just can't compete physically at the next level.

No shame in that - it happens all the time.

There are a lot of really good players in this year's class, especially along the lines, at the top. Add in two QBs worthy of Top 10 selections...maybe he is right.

But there is an All-Pro or two in this bunch, IMO.
The elite guys IMO are
Bosa, Q Williams, Gary, Sweat and White. Then the 2 QBs. That’s 7 guys pretty much guaranteed to go in the top 10. People can then argue for Bush, Metcalf, Nkeal, Lawrence, Oliver, Allen, and Colin. I put Greedy in that bunch. CB is a premium position is a weak class. I doubt Greedy makes it out if the top 10 unless someone jumps up for Lock. They’ll be a couple teams that’ll wait until round 2 for DT and DE since class is so deep.

I think he can compete as an in box safety , doesn’t have great measurables or testing numbers but he can play and play pretty **** physical

Makes sense; but I wouldn’t write the kid off just yet.

40 yd dash numbers are stupid the test is stupid. How often you run a complete straight line in football. Cut on the tape and tell me what you see

Well it looks like we have been having speed at DB all along. Delaney ran a 4.46 last year, jackson 4.46, redwine 4.45, young was fast, bandy has good speed.

I don't think the issue with our corners has been straight line speed in shorts...and I don't think anyone serious on here has been saying that either.

The problem is that they get beat too often by guys that are slower than they are, fail to get their head turned around to find the ball, etc.
