Interesting article in Naples Daily News entitled"New method of
analyzing where recruits may go to school.Written by PH.D candidate
at U of Iowa.
She said there are three major factors that go into a recruit's
decision to pick a school. The first most important factor was did
the recruit take a official visit to the school.Second was the
proximity to the school.Third was the recruit's use of his Twitter
account. In 2016,Bigsby the spearhead behind this program
analyzed nine million tweets, two thousand recruits and six
hundred FBS coaches.
The results showed with 70% accuracy they could predict
the recruits choices and 70-80% accurate his two final options.
Finally,the program with 70%accuracy predict whether a
recruit would decommit. So far two D1 schools have inquired
about her program.

Sounds cool. The first two listed factors are no-brainers but with so many variables and anamolies in recruiting, a 70% accuracy is very high. Interested to see what the logic is behind the twitter analysis (ie triggers, relevancy, and usage by recruit that makes it substantial enough to even analyze).

@70-80% at best, that doesn't really sound any better than the average sports geek predictions

Ehh. Any statistical method of analyzing recruits decisions involves so much qualitative data that it will be hard to draw concrete conclusions from any of it.

Sounds like a massive waste of time tbh

Laziest most meaningless doctoral thesis ever. Yeesus, University of Iowa, this is what passes off as scholarship in the cornfields up there?

Not even close to most meaningless. This one already got street press and some real world interest. Most never get out of the dark lifeless world that is academia.

We’ll disagree like gentlemen about meaningless. The Kardashians generate plenty of real world interest, mainly as sausage envelopes, but it doesn’t exactly make them meaningful, except when when you need to nut.

I agree completely but meaningless can exist on both ends of the spectrum with discussing crap coming from both the mouth and ****. But since the media and entertainment people consider themselves part of the Academy, both just run together anyway.
