I disagree man. Look at Micheal Irvin announcing he’s turning pro, big rope chain around his neck. Jerome brown telling penn state to f(_)<k off at the fiesta bowl dinner, big rope chain around his neck. Too Live crew rocking all that 80s cane gear, big rope chains around there necks. 80s=big gaudy rope chains man, everyone know this!

Good points...I don't remember Cubans being popularized till about the 90's.
 
I want next year's chain to be sebastian wearing the original chain, and just keep going from there.
 
The original would pull in so much more at auction now. Hopefully the school can buy it to put in display.

That is something Slick Willie would do. We aren't living in the 80s anymore. Most of these kids have never even heard of the 80s rappers that wore those chains, let alone want to look like them.
 
shoulda spent that money on some OL and DB recruits and used last years chain.

The fact that 100k was spent on a prop shows that this U has the money, we just choose not to spend it. Could easily afford an elite staff here but the BOT and admin have purposely held us back as they try to change the image kf the school to be Duke.

And then we still end up 58th in the country in academics!

Exactly! I was born in 1980 so the 90s were my time and the Cuban links got popular in the mid 90s and the popular chain was silver then, gold had faded out a little. Everyone in the neighborhood was rocking big silver chains. Especially after Raekwon dropped “built for Cuban links”.

Fighting Ibis is my avatar at work. I'm very proud of that **** Ibis. If Mississippi can still flaunt a colonel that represents segregation, and the Semenholes can still floss a racist depiction of an Indian, then we should have our Ibis who's battered and bruised and just wanna toke a little b/c he's been through ****!
