If they are changing it every year why not auction it to some super fans and add it to the athletics fund.
This is actually a very smart idea. Probably why it will never happen.

Pretty sure I read in an interview last year about the origins of the chain one of the coaches saying Diaz payed for it. The original was only 10K gold so it was much less expensive. He didn't. I remember the jeweler talking about the University paying.

I could be wrong.
Cost a helluva lot more than the turnover backpack the semenholes whipped out!
Silly mortals. It was forged by Eitri @ Nidavellir at the behest of Odin a.k.a. Butch dah football ga...oh never mind.Wasn't it said last year that Wilfork and some anonymous ex players paid for it? It was to remain a secret?
So we should decide now which version we want to be the truth.I've heard several versions lol

Don’t remember hearing anything like that
This is worth every penny in my opinion lolNot to mention it convinced FSU to make complete asses out of themselves.
Bring back the U chain! Love Sebastian but it's all about the U and wish they hadn't changed it. Everyone wears the U chain to the game and it's displayed on countless shirts....hey Mods lets take a poll and see who wins.

100K!
Spoke with a friend of mine who works with the team and he confirmed it. (over 80K just for the 14K gold alone - not including the 4000 sapphires - or the labor) Didn't realize it was a brand new chain that's longer and heavier.
He said Diaz paid out of pocket (around 70K) for the first one and they still have it locked up. Doesn't know who paid for this one.
It makes it even more laughable that other schools try to steal our thunder with things anyone can buy at Party City.
I actually heard this as well - from Romberg and DJ pretty sure
I just wish they would have changed the chain this year to a thick rope chain. Nothing screams 80s canes like a huge rope chain. Plus I think it would have looked better with the ibis pendent.
This.I read somewhere that the total cost was 98K.
The skill and detail to make that are **** impressive.
