Powerhouse football program in northeastern Pa. Small school but was a dominant program through the 90s/early 00s. Bunch of national and state titles. Believe they are near the top all time in wins at the state level, maybe national as well. Just tough old fashioned football up there.

Two things come to mind with this hire…

One…Mario a former OL who was a GA working with TEs and spent some time as a TE coach while primarily being an OL coach means he doesn’t see any issue with the transition.

And two he wants to get more creative with run blocking schemes and getting the guy with best OL from the service academies is a home run from that perspective

Very interesting hire... he's basically been an Army lifer! Found this on his resume which makes the move slightly odd from a timing standpoint "In the winter of 2025, Viti was promoted to Associate Head Coach / Offensive Line." So he basically just got promoted there and now leaves 2.5 months later. Who knows what his motive is, I'm sure he got a significant pay bump and maybe he aspires to be a future OC or HC. Culturally he fits Mario but does he fit recruiting athletes down here and nationally? Time will tell. Either way - love that he's a grinder and loyal. Welcome Coach!

Guessing here but maybe this is the gamble he’s willing to take to see if he can advance his coaching career… I’m sure he felt like he was stuck in HC in waiting for another 10 years or so and I don’t even know what the army HC makes compared to the top or mid tier P4 HCs

Monken is also at that point, if he was gonna be poached I feel like it would’ve happened these last two years. If Viti was HC in waiting, he would prob be waiting another decade. Seems Monken is gonna retire with Army.
