New tight end coach Mike Viti

Very interesting hire... he's basically been an Army lifer! Found this on his resume which makes the move slightly odd from a timing standpoint "In the winter of 2025, Viti was promoted to Associate Head Coach / Offensive Line." So he basically just got promoted there and now leaves 2.5 months later. Who knows what his motive is, I'm sure he got a significant pay bump and maybe he aspires to be a future OC or HC. Culturally he fits Mario but does he fit recruiting athletes down here and nationally? Time will tell. Either way - love that he's a grinder and loyal. Welcome Coach!

"Winter" months are December, January, and February. So the promotion could have happened over a year ago.

Seems weird to make a promotion in December, when Army is still playing regular season games (i.e., Army-Navy). Seems more likely for this to have happened in January-February 2025 time frame.

Obviously, a nice cultural fit. He won’t be afraid of long hours or the grind. And if an opposing staff or coach mouths off post-game, he’ll kick some ***.

Great hire…..by that i mean this guy sucks…unless he doesn’t

Field is still around in his recruiting role. He was on the road recruiting after Woodiel left so I don’t see any fall off on recruiting.

As for coaching we also have this guy on staff to assist

Nate Crutchfield (Tight End)

Getting his start in college football as an undergraduate at Alabama working in player personnel, Crutchfield spent 18 months around the Crimson Tide learning the ropes of the talent acquisition process. He then went on to Virginia where he spent a season working in player personnel for the Cavaliers before becoming an assistant recruiting coordinator for two years at Michigan. He was then elevated to a graduate assistant working with the wide receivers under Broyles Award winner Josh Gattis, who brought him over to Miami ahead of the 2022 season.

As a graduate assistant at Miami in 2022, Crutchfield worked with the quarterbacks before working with the wide receivers last fall. He's now an analyst working with the tight end room.

Guy is a badass. Have met him many times and he recruits my area a lot. Have seen several kids go play there from my area.

Does a ton of work for veterans and has a foundation for fallen war heroes. Think he earned a star during his own deployment.

Love the cultural fit if nothing else.
Guy seems like a bad ***. Gotta be hype for a guy who can lead a bunch of bad asses too
