New qb take...

Tate is the best answer for UF in that scenario. I prefer he starts against the Gator. Then eventually Jarren takes over. I know how it sounds but I want to win every game with no growing pains. I don’t see UF beating us with a QB that hits short passes, TEs down the middle, occasional deep balls, and can run. Especially with a suspect OL.
@blackvern Why are you negging my posts with no comments? Wait... You can’t show your grin your Noles might have a shot at Perry. I get it.

So a 5'9 QB is gonna be good at throwing to tight ends over the middle??. Thats the one specific thing that he is not going to be good at!! I would agree with you about the growing pains of Jarren, unfortunately Tate has never started a college game in his life, yet along even participated in a competitive one so he has no more experience then Jarren.
Actually Tate has been the best of the bunch throwing down the middle to TEs. You should know that if you’ve watched or even read reports from this spring or fall.

Whoever starts will go through growing pains. It won’t be pretty. I guess Perry has the least issues because he has played before.

So a guy that had no idea what he was doing in an offense for two years last year will be better in a new offense this year vs guys smarter than him? That’s completely wrong. I’m close to the point I’ll take bets Perry isn’t starting.

.....But if you MUST put a guy out there in the first game because of experience then it should be Perry. At least you can argue for him in a sense, given his talent and given he played a lot last year...I cannot be Tate. No way. ...

Even posters who I consider somewhat reasonable, like yourself, or being made crazy by this quarterback competition.

To respond to the quote above: no they must not put out guy out there who you think should be put there, like Perry or anybody else.

They should put a guy there who the coaches think gives them the best chance to win, no matter who the posters here, think won the competition.

This was not a competition for you guys to decide whether it’s fair or not, it was a competition for the coaches to decide who gave them the best chance to win. I don’t give a fūck what anybody on here says, it’s their jobs on the line. And I’m good with whatever they put in at quarterback.

You people are starting to get crazy

could you imagine if there was the internet back in 1994 during the Frank Costa-Ryan Collins QB battle?

This place woulda been bonkers

I want the best player. It appears Jarren has possibly had the best camp. Although we don’t see everything and who know what the coaches have seen in film.

However, I can’t see starting Jarren in his 1st game against uf. Not fair to the kid.

I see a scenario where Tate starts due to his mobility. Maybe Jarren gets the start next game.

Either way, I see packages where Tate may enter the game down the road regardless.

Perry transfers.

I’m just guessing.
🤷‍♂️

I'm not getting your logic on this one. How is one guy the best bet for game 1 but not the season? Like how long do you figure Williams needs before he'll be ready?

I just think that you put whoever has the best mix of traits you're looking for on the field and go with him. Unless that guy really sucks out there you work with him and develop him. Look, I want to beat the gayter as badly as I want anything in the world right now, but honestly, for the team, for this season, having a seasoned QB to help us win the Coastal is more important than beating the gayter. It hurts to say that, to imagine a loss to those sister fckers, but it's the smarter choice. Nobody wants to hear "yeah but we beat the gayter" at the end of a 5-7 season. Let's find our guy and get to work.

Thirteen days left. Manny and Co. must at least have it down to two QBs. Announce the 2nd runner up, give him a nice bouquet and let him go into the transfer portal.

How about 1984...during Jimmy’s first year. 8-4?! A bad hire from Okie State? Nicknames like Limp Johnson?

That is the newest, freshest, hottest take, brother. You should have heard the thunderous applause that erupted in my office after I read it.

Can't wait for new rb take from you.

Why would anyone fear a QB that Could Not beat out RoJeer ? Let that sink in and I will wait for response.

Baker Mayfield, kyler murray, jalen hurts, will Grier, gardner minshew, Jacob eason (who i think will do work), shea Patterson, kelly Bryant, justin fields etc. all say hello. The days of simply dismissing a qb who transferred bc they were "afraid of competition" it couldn't cut it/"beat out X starter" are over
