MEGA New Miami Adidas Ultraboost🔥 - The Shoe and Nike/Adidas Thread.

I love those but serious question: Has there ever been a replica/throwback done by another apparel brand in sports? I think they look great but it’s a very strange concept to see adidas replicating Nikes design 20 years later. This feels like a first

Wellllll...to the extent that Miami does ANY pre-1987 throwbacks, they are ALWAYS copying another apparel brand.

I can tell you one thing with certainty, before Nike (1987) and adidas (2015), we never used either of those companies. Russell Athletic was the last pre-Nike apparel provider, and I have no idea who did our jerseys before that.

By default, I would tend to tell you that ANY school that does a pre-1980 throwback (if those schools are signed with Nike/adidas/Under Armour) are definitely reproducing a jersey made by SOME other company.

If a school keeps the same design they have historically worn through multiple apparel companies is that considered replicating a design?

Our current design are Russell Athletic throwbacks, aren’t they?

No, not really.

I can tell you with great certainty, guys like Melvin Bratton and Alonzo Highsmith are VERY SPECIFIC when speaking on the old jerseys.

The sleeves were longer, the striping on the arms was thinner and on the pants was thicker, the arm stripes went all the way around the arms. The number font and color schemes are similar, but I guarantee you that the old players do not consider the new uniforms to be throwbacks, but merely similar styling on the numbers.

I like the current uniforms very much, and one can certainly argue that longer sleeves are never coming back, so it's a pretty close duplication for the modern day.

Dropping these after announcement have to be mismanagement of the highest degree right?

Sucks for those that worked on this for a couple years..

I tried to make this point earlier, and was told that "this is how things are done". Somehow, it made more sense for adidas to wait a few extra weeks, because lord knows, all the Miami fans spent all their money buying the "2026 version" of the same jersey we've worn for 10 years.

Now CanesWear is FUUUUUUUUUCKED.

Please support CanesWear. They have a LOT of 2001 jerseys to sell.

Don't see them available to order online yet. Want to get one for my son .

Always a good crew there. I hope they crush it once the Nike take over commences.

Call CanesWear. Or maybe the UM Bookstore/AllCanes/Hurricanes Team Store.

Those pix show the jerseys on hangers. Those are the only 4 places that I know that will definitely stock multiple colors/numbers.

They may not be online right now, but I'm willing to bet money that they would be happy to fulfill a telephone order to get rid of some inventory.

Hi guys: This is our “2001” jerseys from Adidas. This will be the last Adidas **** I will be posting.

First thing first, & imma tag him, but me & @Gocanes1990 were talking about this weeks ago, privately. The last time I was accused of being a zealot for Nike, & u know who u r, I specifically said I’m going to stop providing intel, & I always keep my word.

However, I dropped another Easter egg, actually I’ve dropped several Easter eggs. The last Easter egg was OVO x Miami in this thread. OVO is Drake’s company, u know the same Drake that’s one of Nike’s biggest collaborators? His clothing line is NOCTA which is a direct subsidiary of Nike, but OVO specifically collabs w Jordan & Nike.

I specifically said Adidas put all their eggs in the PSU & UTenn baskets, plus they have a **** ton of priority teams coming up all at one time, so it will be interesting to see how that plays out. Welllllllllll…..

I specifically & religiously have reiterated we’re not a priority for Adidas. I literally gave the pecking order, but of course I had the….nvm.

I never commented on Pete’s rant b/c I knew Pete was guessing based upon Adidas x Miami Dade-County. Now, let me back up…when I first came in this thread I was very confident we would switch back to Nike, but Adidas did do a great job in trying to persuade the right folks. HOWEVER, I’ve told u guys Nike’s mission under their CEO: Sports.

Nike has done a great job in reuniting the family, including having former Nike athletes come & rep the brand as ambassadors at various camps. It was looking dicey for a minute, but when @Gocanes1990 confirmed from Miami’s end the same thing I heard from my Nike source, I knew the smoke was completely fire.

Two weeks ago, the text I received was “[]_[] ready?” So I sat on this **** for two weeks. I didn’t know the details, but I had assumed it would be along the same lines of Jordan x Michigan. We’re going to have a lot of collaborations for cleats & off the field gear. We’ll be a Nike NIL school.

Oh, there was something else…2/3 of the $20m is coming in the form of cash + royalties.

Adidas gave us $6.78m/yr w 0 royalties…. We’ll be getting $20m/yr w royalties.
I used to pray for times like this!!! Finally can buy merch and not only have to shop 47 brand, other brands.
