MEGA New Miami Adidas Ultraboost🔥 - The Shoe and Nike/Adidas Thread.

If I didn’t know sht about athletic brands and came along this thread I would only come to one conclusion:

Adidas sucks nursing home caulk.

If you supply a school with gear for over a decade and you can’t convince fans, former/active players to love what you’re supplying; then you either suck or don’t care.
You get your best designers, engineers, sports scientists on the job and tell them to fix it.
It seems like adidas is just throwing money at the problem convincing people to pick them.

But damm adidas!! 10+ years and you can’t win over a fan base?
Using that soccer money to keep cfb on the payroll.

It seems more like to me that they're just not bringing the things they have fixed to the consumer level that they're giving the team and that's where they are missing out and ****ing people off outside of the people who are only team a or B no matter what

Keep posting one-off alternate jerseys.

Remember this, Mr. Traditionalist?

Ooooh, you didn't like the shoulders or the 2-color numbers.

Well, everything about this baby-vomit uniform is terrible.

Those sucked. But again I'm not advocating for Adidas. I'm just keeping it real about how badly Nike performed as the apparel supplier when they had a chance. I don't understand why that brand needs to be given another chance. Especially given Nike is a declining company anyway.

Again, not sure how many times it needs to be repeated.

Nike did not, repeat not, "perform badly as the apparel supplier".

Miami chose to deviate from "traditional uniforms" IN THE 1990s. That's an undeniable fact.

All of our uniform designs were approved by Paul Dee or Kirby Hocutt or Shawn Eichorst or Beta Blake James. That's an undeniable fact.

On the other hand, "Nike is a declining company anyway" is not a fact. Most of their current situation is due to a decline in the Chinese market. And the rise of Chinese-based apparel companies.

Now, you can claim that you are "not advocating for adidas". But in a duopoly, your repeated nonsense about "not giving Nike another chance" is exactly that. Advocating for adidas. It can be nothing else. You won't even permit a fair and full competitive bidding process, you just say that Nike should be blackballed. Unless you are saying you want to go with Under Armour, which is just ridiculous.

Again, plucking out individual uniforms is a zero-sum game. First, because both companies have had hits and misses. Second, because some things are a matter of personal taste. But most importantly, because you fail to account for the issue that @Rellyrell has cited with regularity, which is the quality and cut and fit of the uniforms. Sure, @ShadowSpring didn't like certain stripes on the Nike uniforms. Got it. Point taken. But the reality is that the Nike uniforms were of a better quality, and I've seen both Nike and adidas game-worn jerseys up close. ****, I own a few of them.

So while I can agree with you that I didn't like all of the Nike designs that our Athletic Directors approved, that's still not a reason to "blackball" Nike. Nike makes better player gear, and they make better consumer gear.

We can debate "fashion" all day and all night. Improvements can always be made, by either company. But the Nike quality exceeds the adidas quality, regardless of how Nike is doing in the Chinese market.

The design is fine it’s just the colors chosen that makes it terrible. Why not just go full blown OCP pallet if you’re not sticking to traditional UM pallet?

I must be one of the few that thought this was actually a nice 1-off uni for the procombats. It was the ones with the green helmets that was disgusting tbh - and that was mostly because of the helmet Imo. Honestly most of the people that ***** about the yearly 1-off design are lame imo. Who cares. Most are fine, some a good to great and every once in a while they miss....

Also with the camo uni notice plenty of recruits choose to wear that for the photos. The pants color was really the issue with the camo one to me honestly. All the white ones and black (other than that neon one) have been fine to good imo.

Like every single white Alt 1-off we have worn has been nice - with Nike or Adidas as far as design is concerned. And again the black ones have all been good really with the exception of the neon green on that one & which I don't even think we actually wore in a game they just sold? Or am I forgetting the game.... Idk.

Nah. Black pants and it would have been good. The color of the camo was fine honestly. It was that the pants didn't match at all. If pants were black with the black helmet it would have worked far better. (And U logo on helmet should be that matching Camo obviously)
IMO that camo blended in with the grass on the broadcast, it was awesome. What colors is that even? A bad attempt at Marpat?

The design is fine? HOW? They changed the helmet color (which is supposed to be inviolable for a significant portion of our fanbase), then used a meaningless digital camo design for most of the uniform, and finally did not even use Miami colors. I would have been fine if the camo was inside of the numbers and inside of the U on the WHITE helmet. But that camo **** is just waaaaaay overdone.

Meanwhile, you have some posters acting as if a Nike design on the shoulders is the biggest offense they've ever seen, and that Nike should be "blacklisted" for stripes and whatnot.

It's a double-standard, and is based in whole or in part on the MYTH that "Nike treated Miami poorly from 2013 to 2015".

I saw some jerseys I'd never buy that Nike made. And I saw some jerseys I'd never buy that adidas made. It's not a "contest". Although...adidas certainly made the worst jersey that Miami has EVER worn, for both the 2015 and 2016 seasons before Mark Richt stepped in and made our one-off throwback jersey for the 2016 F$U game "the official Miami jersey".

Richt did that. Not adidas. I have no idea why adidas got credit for "making our jersey better" when that was an executive decision by Richt.

We skipped the first year of that neon jersey. It was sold online, and then never worn in a game. Then adidas decided not to redesign it, and we used it again the next year. The second time, it was actually worn in a game.

Good post. See, I'm complimentary when you do a good job of nailing it.
