Here is something interesting.

I noticed that the University of Florida is NOT on that list. Why is that important?

For two reasons.

The first is that what we DO KNOW about the UF contract with Jordan is that they get about $3.5M per year in the uniform allowance piece, one of the highest in the country. And also, UF gets a 14% royalty rate, which is also one of the highest in the country (I've never heard of a rate higher than 15% for a university).

A sub-point to make here is that I cannot find any references that quantify the royalty income. Obviously, if UF sold $100M of merch each year, they would make $14M. And it would only require UF to sell $25M of merch to make $3.5M of royalties each year, which would put the UF contract at $7M a year (ahead of UM). This is all very interesting BECAUSE Florida is a state school, thus there should be more transparency on these numbers.

The second interesting point is that everything I have seen seems to indicate that the UF-Jordan contract runs through 2024. Obviously it has been extended. But the extension (and any new terms) have thus far gone unreported.

But what we DO KNOW is (a) that the 2015-2024 contract is reported in an incomplete manner, and (b) the renewal is not really reported at all. Somehow, a public university in Florida is keeping secrets from the taxpayers. And, if I know anything about the University of Florida (and I do) they are swimming in cash due to taking a huge royalty in the apparel deal.

Speaking only for myself, I never said political reasons.

But minds are already 90% made up. That's a fact.

It's easy for the only bidder to offer more money when any other bidders are getting lukewarm responses. That's why Radakovich should have been stoking a better relationship with Nike since December 2021. This day was coming for four-plus years.

I've been through this before. I've changed vendors before, particularly when there is a very small pool to choose from (Big 4 accounting firms). You have to maintain good relationships. ****, I made a change from KPMG to E&Y over 15 years ago, and still maintained friendships. In my current job, I brought in KPMG and haven't used E&Y in over 10 years. Relationships.

Because Nike had us looking like a cartoon for a decade. No way I wanna go back. It was painful. Nike sucks. Period. They forever should be blacklisted. They had their chance and failed miserably

When you don't have a lot of provider options and people change jobs regularly, yes, a discussion of the need to maintain good relations is completely valid.

Lots of industries and situations where burning bridges is not smart business. It's really sad that we have so many dopey porsters who can't differentiate between a "comparison" and an "example".

You know I love ya, but that's a load of horse****. You completely ignore the role of the Athletic Director. We had a series of FOUR Athletic Directors who actively encouraged and accepted deviations from a "traditional" uniform. First, the shadowboxed numbers of the mid to late 90s. Then the National Championship jerseys. Then the bra-straps.

And as for the "looking like a cartoon" nonsense, this is not a "cartoon" jersey. You may not like the accent stripe, but it was not something that was a terrible offense.

And as PROOF that this is all about the Athletic Directors, all we have to do is look at Beta Blake and his VOLUNTARY EMBRACE of the all-time worst Miami jersey of all time, the adidas "feathers" jersey. Which was not only embraced for 2015, but was our CHOSEN JERSEY DESIGN for 2016 as well. If not for the lucky accidents of Mark Richt and a "throwback jersey" game against F$U in Game 5, we might still be wearing the "feathers" jersey.

Nike didn't put a gun to Miami's head. Nike delivered what FOUR Athletic Directors asked for, a non-traditional jersey that was different from what everyone else was wearing. You may not like it, but calling for a "blacklisting" over something our ADs did is just ridiculous.

And, for the record, it looks like Wisconsin might be hiring one of our former ADs, the old Shermanator, Shawn Eichorst. Proof positive that the spinning wheel keeps spinning, and even a guy who got fired from his own alma mater will eventually find another job.

2016, baby! Maybe we should blacklist adidas for thinking that this was a good design FOR TWO YEARS. Talk about looking like a cartoon.

It was putrid horrible garbage. Some of you should be ashamed trying to get them back. I've already posted the dumbest uni's of all time from Nike in this thread. They failed.

Secondly this all seems immature. It's like an Apple vs Android argument. Who TF cares? Go with the bag and decent uni's.

Oh and regarding the 2015 or 2016 bad Adidas threads.....I'll excuse it because they probably thought we liked looking like a Clown College with our prior Nike gear. Design team coulda been thinking we wanted to look like dorks.
 
2014 Nike Miami uni’s actually one of my all time faves. The players and coaches just chose horrible color combos that year. But they legit looked like NFL unis, the quality and tech were amazing. If we sign with Nike or JB, actually wouldn’t mind going back to that template at the outset.

You'll "excuse it". That says everything, right there.

Yeah, "design team". Those designers carry machine guns and force us to accept everything. If you saw the Nike and adidas jerseys from that time period up close, you would realize how bad the adidas jerseys were on a quality level, beyond how bad THEY LOOKED.

Yes. And, sadly, after riding the same uniform for years longer than we had worn any other non-traditional uniform design, because Beta Blake was converting our uniform and equipment allowances into cash payments.

All anyone has to do is go back and look at what I JUST SAID about the Gators' contract. For nearly a decade, their equipment and uniform allowance was $3.5M per year, and that was among the highest in the business.

Now, imagine what the Gators would look like if the AD converted a million, or a million-five, of that uniform allowance into a cash payment to make his bottom line look better, at the expense of the team and the team uniforms.

But, yeah, let's blame mean-girl/tough-guy "designers". They use their pencils and scissors in suuuuuch an intimidating fashion. Paul Dee and Kirby Hocutt and Shawn Eichorst and Beta Blake James were powerless to resist the iron fists of the "Nike design team".

Nike failed. Every single year was garbage threads. They all sucked. It was an embarrassment. I don't care which company we go with, it could be Ozark Trail from Walmart for all I care. Get the bag and design tight uniforms. But y'all sound like battered wives begging to go back to the dude giving you that black eye. In business and in life, if you fail there should be consequences
