There are certain schools...

Michigan...Taint...Pedo State...Alabama...Nebraska...

Any idiot knows these are "traditional uniform" schools, and you just don't **** with it.

How adidas misunderstood the assignment...I'll never know...

Is The Shermanator still their AD?

(Kidding, I know the answer to that)

Hard to believe that given the Addidas investment into the South Florida high school sports scene, that they would not want the U to be one of their flagship partners. Everything seems to be coming together at an opportune time. The resurgence of the U as a National Power, a number of marketable young players, popularity of futbol growing with Messi in South Florida. The entire landscape screams for Addidas to make a huge investment in the Canes.

From what I have heard, Adidas has treated Miami extremely well and they have helped us in more ways than one. The public will never know about the things they have done but as long as it helps them seal the deal with us then I do not think they will care.
Some people can’t accept it’s possible Adidas has been an overall good partner in UMs eyes, and over the last couple years has been viewed as a great partner. There is certainly an argument there was rocky moments. But it seems pretty reasonable that the first yr or two (while the worst uniforms) was good for the overall deal vs what Nike was delivering. then over the past 3 years or so the partnership is very strong - in both the deal and Uniform. Like if the entire thing is about Louisville getting a better deal and not enforcing our contract to be the top paid in conference… well yeah that’s a problem, but I assume that has been resolved for a few years now.

And regardless, I’d just put faith in JoeE that we aren’t gunna get punked basically.

Those points are not being argued.

What is being argued is whether Nike would have done the exact same (if not more) had Beta Blake not torpedoed the historic relationship. And we may never know if we just keep re-upping with adidas because they have treated us well since the game has changed (NIL, Fanatics, etc.).

That is all.
You know we do not agree here. You’re giving Nike way too much of a pass and giving Blake way too much credit. Agree to disagree.

There are also some people who can't accept that it's possible to have adidas skeptics who can both ACKNOWLEDGE that adidas has been a better partner over the past 2-3 years than they were over the first 8-9 years.

And we don't know what to expect after the ink dries.

By the way, there's more than just "the deal" and "the uniform", at least if they expect fans to buy the merch. And I no longer buy the adidas merch. Because it sucks, not because I like Nike better. Yes, I like Nike better, but I love the UM logo THE MOST.

So, for now, it's Columbia and Cutter & Buck and Tommy Bahama and Champion and New Era and Peter Millar and Cameron J and johnnie-O and Southern Tide...

Uhhh...how am I giving Nike too much of a pass and Beta Blake too much credit?

For the record, I'm not worried about agreeing or disagreeing. I'm focused on "did these things actually happen".

Did Beta Blake convert some of our uniform allocations into straight cash payments from 2013 to 2015? Yes. Yes he did.

Thus, the "Nike doesn't love Miami anymore" myth is false, and the desire for Nike to move to a royalty-driven payment methodology was based on that abusive behavior by Beta Blake. And how am I giving Beta Blake "way too much credit"? He wanted to make a name for himself, he wanted a signature move for his legacy. So he signed a seemingly great contract with adidas that promised more than adidas delivered. And then Blake didn't monitor the contract and had to be informed BELATEDLY that adidas was paying Louisville more, in spite of our most-favored-nations clause.

Did adidas violate the terms of our deal by signing Louisville to a more lucrative deal within 2 years of the Miami deal starting and not increasing the compensation paid to Miami? Yes. Yes they did.

And, yes, adidas eventually paid Miami more when we forced them to do so.

Again, I'll make this clear. My concerns with adidas would be removed if (a) there was a vigorous 2-or-more-parties competitive bidding process which adidas won fair-and-square, and (b) adidas delivers what it promises in all years of the contract, not just the couple of years prior to renewal.

While I won't wear the adidas merch until they improve on it, I would be happy with UM picking adidas if those two requirements are met.

After 20 years with Nike, i just found out Columbus High is an Adidas school and they’re loving it. The school gets whatever they want and in a matter of weeks. Interesting.

Glad to hear of that. I just can't understand why adidas, with a MULTI-DECADE headstart on Nike, never figured out that good customer service could be a point of differentiation.

I'm glad when anyone gets religion, but I wish it happened sooner and I hope it sticks.

Well, that deal starts in about a week. The basketball team was literally just in Phoenix for Sec7 sporting Jordan Brand.

Deal was done a month or two ago (give or take). That doesn’t mean they aren’t getting the new gear already behind the scenes.

Interesting….especially since they don’t become a Pat Mahomes Gladiator School until……….JULY 1, 2026.

That’s some kind of service Adidas is providing w/o being being official.

Nah, nah, nah homie. That’s not how this works. U just posted “i just found out Columbus High is an Adidas school and they’re loving it. The school gets whatever they want and in a matter of weeks. Interesting.”

I would hope they get whatever they want SINCE THE DEAL HASNT STARTED YET! Ur sentence implies something totally different, & u got caught lying. & just so we’re clear, I know exactly what they’re getting being that my homie is now playing for Mahomes Gladiator School as of July 1, 2026. U don’t have to put 25 on something to try to prove a point that’s easily refuted.

This not being competitively bid is the same old mom and pop bull**** that miami has done for a long long time. I thought we were past this type of garbage.

**** shame and truly horrible business practice

Uh well it’s been a done deal for over a year and it’s been known it would be a deal going back to 2024. But it is not in effect until July 1, 2026. As of today, literally no one playing any sport is rocking out in team-issue Adidas gear.

My homey is literally an alumn and has some connections through the athletic side (he played years back) in Columbus. He spoke to someone in the school and said what I shared. Apparently, the school (never said the athletes) is very happy with their relations with Adidas, thus far. I gave an example as to why. Perhaps, my info is bad. Perhaps not. All I know is given how important the connection between Columbus HS, Miami and Inter Miami are, I am not at all surprised to hear Adidas is giving them a lot of love and to make certain folks at all 3 places very happy.

I had no idea Columbus made the switch so all this news was a surprise to me when i heard about it today.

Either way, what exactly am I lying about? That Columbus isn’t getting the gear they requested? What can I possibly get out of lying about that? Hate to burst your corny “gotcha” moment but you got to do better, gang. Not everything is about Nike.
