Your last paragraph is crucial here. You have the mediocrity of adidas on one side. We've given a bunch of examples, which this wacky poster wants to dismiss in the "both sides do the same thing" blanket excuse.

And on the other side is "what looks good on paper". This includes "guaranteed money over royalty payouts", and it includes "let me tell you about everything Nike did wrong, while minimizing what adidas has done wrong". And it absolutely includes the whole "adidas values us soooo much and look at how they are (finally) treating us in Year 10 of a 12 year contract".

I'm done. I've seen enough. I certainly refuse to listen to Canedud tell me about how the quality and fit of my Nike and adidas gear is identical, particularly when I have two closets of merch and I can make my own observations and determinations. And I will not be lied to about the horrible "last 2 years of the Nike relationship" when we had 25 good years before that time, particularly when Beta Blake James engineered a lot of those problems to support his move to adidas.

Time to move along. Both generally and specifically.

1000% agree. Every adidas piece ive gotten (much of which was team issue from coach friends) is absolute garbage. None of it is worth buying; material and fit are garbage.

So, in all honesty…

I really didn’t realize how limited Adidas x Miami gear was for women. It’s bare. On the bright side, Fanatics has a ton of Miami branded gear for women.

Yeah, it’s really bad. Men have pages and pages, and we get…like three items. Sometimes not even a hat. We are treated like an afterthought. I get that the market is smaller, but it exists. The problem is that it doesn’t treat it like the women’s apparel industry, and then punishes us for not buying the products. Circular logic there.

Fanatics sells my favorite tees, but I have to buy up a size or two because any decent (i.e., cute) women’s fan gear is often designed for the younger generation. Think junior sizing v. women’s sizing. And nothing ever comes in tall sizes, and I’m over 5’10”. I’m assuming short women have the same issues with the lack of petite sizing. Same with plus size women, although I occasionally see some items.

But if the industry is going to offer items to women, then it needs to do it correctly. And that includes proper sizing for all women’s shapes. I get it’s expensive, but I think we’d rather have one good option than a bunch of ugly cheap crap anyway.

This might seem like a twist, but have you checked the UM Bookstore site (the bookstore is owned by Follett now).

I do know that when I've gone into the Bookstore, they have a pretty large selection of women's clothing. And while I don't shop on that side of the store, I do know that they have tremendously upgraded the clothing selection, including brands other-than-adidas.

I've seen stuff at the Bookstore that I haven't seen in other stores, though with the common ownership and/or management, you might find a comparable selection at AllCanes and/or Hurricanes Team Store.

NB doesn't have the left/right paneling which creates the weird center stripe down the front and back of the jersey.

NB went with shoulder stripes instead of the redundant BC shoulder patch

NB sleeve cuffs look more fitted and tight

Like I said, a big part is the sizing issue. Most of the stuff is made for college-aged girls, because that’s a huge part of the women’s market. But the apparel companies are missing out, and need to actually design for women. There’s a reason most women just wear school colors to games instead of brand / logo clothing. Just taking a men’s tee and making a basic women’s tee is fine, but we want more. (Edit: and there’s still that whole tall / petite / plus size they aren’t accounting for with these)

The sports apparel companies have shown that they can put out amazing women’s clothing, in recent years. We’ve even seen really cool collabs with big design houses. Could you imagine Miami Nike gear with a collab with Pharrell, who is Louis Vuitton’s current creative director, would sell? And he’s done Adidas stuff before, he’s worked with Chanel. As big as college sports are, there are huge opportunities here, and women are a huge part of the market.

Also, and I’ll give NB some leeway since this is a new genre of apparel they r entering in:

1. The jersey has no collar, which means each tackle, those shoulder pads r popping out.

2. They were very sloppy with the stitch leaving uneven seams, and loose, tattered ends around the shoulder pads arm sleeves.

3. B/c of the lack of stability in the collar area, it’s created a domino effect which u highlighted, which also throws off the Golden Eagle BC from its center.

Those minor things r what separates companies. Athletes notice these things, as well. They won’t openly complain, but behind closed doors they do. Adidas have gotten better w designs by “borrowing” previous tech ideas to implement in their jerseys. Why? B/c they were getting clowned behind closed doors by ADs. UA also had to adjust their designs, & I’m sure NB will, but BC’s previous Adidas & UA unis were more aesthetically in sync vs. this new iteration.

I get it, just throwing out ideas. Pharrell was the first that came to mind just because the fashion world is geeking out over him being at LV now, but you know there are so many others.

I do see a lot more being done in women’s wear for some pro teams. Interestingly, it’s easier for me to find Heat gear I like because they do a much better job with NBA stuff. But that’s because they bring streetwear style to it. I can get Heat stuff at Nordstrom.

Yikes, the no collar. That’ll be interesting to watch. Yeah, the pic shows that area doesn’t fit right, not enough tension to lay flat.

The only thing I will agree on w dude is our negotiations need to be w/in market value, but that’s about it.

What this dude doesn’t understand is what’s been posted here is not a Miami complaint, it’s global. ****, they just ****ed off TAMU by including Miss St merchandise/sizing w/ theirs. (True Story) I sent u, personally, what’s going on in Seattle w UDub & Adidas.

Dude think this is bias reasoning, & they claim they want what’s best for the University, yet I’ve noticed this tendency to advocate for mediocrity as long as it looks good on paper.
