Terrible list aside, I'm interested to see how OU and USCw do this year. If OU can fix that OL they're going to be a problem.

I was going to say this as well. ESPN has to do this so when the CFP committee compares “resumes”, there can be zero argument on SEC teams with wins over “multiple” CFP ranked teams.

It will never happen but moving the bowl games to the 2nd week of the season (after FCS matchups) and setting up cross conference matchups would go a long way to answer all this nonsense. I think it would be a heck of a weekend for watching football.

Instead the SEC plays MORE conference games so they can make even more excuses as to why they're better. And then when they play teams at the end of the season not in their conference they can complain that they were tired.

Tbf, the SEC moved to 9 conference game schedules partially because their conferences expanded, to increase revenues, and there was an implicit agreement, between Sankey and the coaches, that first year of the new schedule would coincide with the playoffs expanding to 16 teams.

I agree that the easiest way to solve SOS debates — eliminating the importance of preseason polls that always favor SEC schools — is more OOC games. Before we get there, the B1G needs to mandate one p4 ooc opponent like the other 3 conferences. Right now they’re pussyfooting away from that. Also agree about the SEC complaining never-ending since Saban retired.

I don’t think bowl games need to be moved up. I think conference championship games need to be eliminated, spring games should be against FCS cupcakes, scheduling 2 ooc p4 games should be mandatory for all p4 schools, and there should be a ban on FBS schools playing FCS opponents.

There were 127 FCS vs FBS matchups last year and the FCS schools won 4 of them. In the last 20 years, the number of FCS vs FBS matchups have more than doubled (54 matchups in 2005) yet the winning percentages are nearly identical (3.7% vs 3.2%).
