NEW ESPN FPI top 25 drops. You will be SHOCKED to know...

12 out of 16 SEC teams are in the top 25. Just so you know, the team that finished 12th in the SEC last year went 4-8 and lost to the only 2 OOC teams they played with a pulse. The team that finished 11th went 5-7 and lost 41-0 to Louisville.

I mean, I could keep going. The SEC is going to absolutely sh** the bed this year. That I promise.
 
Miami not being in the top three is almost as crazy as them only being 10 and 11 spots ahead of PSU and UF. Did I miss something?

2 big 12 schools = 2 SEC/BIG-12 schools. Top 25 teams joining the SEC and BIG 10 means we can't complain when they take up more of the polls. Texas and OU would still be ranked in those spots if they never left the Big12.

From the top 10, considering the 2023 conference lineup... you'd have 1 IND, 1ACC, 2BIG10, 3SEC, 2 BIG12, 1 PAC12. That's not too bad as far as balance. Ore/USC and Texas/OU jumping to Big10/SEC was such a stupid move that ruined what could've been some great conference diversity.
 
Meh, I am usually blase to the SEC bias, but this year it is for real. LSU, Florida, Alabama, Texas and Auburn... Alabama was the weakest CFP entrant, Texas didn't make it after gacking to Florida in Canesville, but the rest had mid-to terrible seasons. This must be completely predicated on talent acquisition. That being said, the full table shows Miami having the highest win total of any P4, only ND is higher with its weak schedule of FBS dregs including some of the worst ACC teams. https://www.espn.com/college-football/fpi

ESPN will tell you FPI isn’t a poll, it’s a formula. But what are the metrics used to determine this formula? What metrics are they using that can honestly place a 4-8 team inside the top 25?

Basically if the teams played on a neutral field, who does vegas favor?

I think TT is WAY too high with no **** QB.

LSU I think is getting too much Kiffen love but on a neutral field would you have Tenn or Penn State beating them? I dont think i would. I wouldnt be shocked if they lost but if I was forced to pick one it prob be LSU. I prob have A&M above them, maybe ole miss.

I agree. But if there's ever a year to predict them high, this is it. They are absolutely loaded.
 
Doesn't FPI include recruiting rankings for the beginning of year rankings? Probably why SEC schools are overvalued at the starting lane.

Most of them are ranked higher in recruiting.
