NEW D-Line Coach - Bryan Cox?

Remember Cox on Hard Knocks two years ago when he was DL coach of the Atlanta Falcons? He was hilarious ....and profane. Most entertaining of the Atlanta coaches.

Probably a little rough around the edges for CMR.

yeah he was funny as **** he didnt coddle those guys at all though and was no nonsense not sure if he has the personality to recruit and kiss *** he's from jeff thomas hometown east st. louis

Seems like a solid hire. Especially at this time of year when pickings are pretty slim. Probably as good as we can do.

He'd be a downgrade from Kugliowski though. Although granted that almost anybody would be a downgrade from coach K, since K was that great. When somebody like K leaves you're almost always going to get a downgrade.

Would pass for a lot of reasons (as there are more qualified candidates)—but no bigger red flag these days than not having coached in college before and not having strong recruiting ties.

How many candidates can you seriously get when you lose a coach in February? This reminds me of people who criticize the Coker head coach hiring, somehow believing that there were 10,000 candidates at our doorstep when Butch Davis left so late.

Lol, this is the only thing I remember about him.

That is how he would react if a recruit turned down the U after he worked to get him.

Not college, just the NFL.

I remember watching him when the Falcons were on hardknocks and was impressed with him. Not sure how he would do recruiting but feel he would be a very good coach.

B.Cox would definitely bring the fire to the DL. Not sure about his recruiting tenacity though. Just turn Hartley loose on everybody.

Exactly. As a Miami boy and Dolphan at the time, I loved that moment. Having to relive it as the film clip gets played ten times during every game about our assistant coach, UM simply can’t afford to even consider a hire like this, all other variables not even relevant.

Bryan Cox is actually a really smart guy, in my opinion. Just not the right guy for UM. Fair or not, his rep is what it is.

Lol... Put Hartley there... In a year we'll have the best D-Line class in the country. Not that he'll have to recruit there but El Sicario Blanco will crush that guy Bama just hired...without ever having coached the position.

Well his (Gator) son went to STA, so I'm sure he's very familiar with the world of high school recruiting.
