New Barry Jackson: Trustees Seek Change in Offense

Im sure they are noticing now with less butts in the stands...

Last year was a reminder about what a positive thing having an exciting football team can bring in revenue wise for the school... Wasn't it reported that the school had the most applications after Game day did their set and we had people diving into pools while the rest of the country was in the frigid 40s?

Money talks and if they got a to dip their big toe and see what could be I reckon they dont mind opening up the coffers... especially if that 1mill for a OC is true
VT and GT games were on the road. Last home game was against Duke and attendance was high.

The BOT always needs things to blow up in their face before they can make any realizations.

If they had the care or competence to do any due diligence, nothing about his time at Uga indicated he would be any different than what he's shown here.

Just a cursory look at his record since '08 would've told them all they needed to know:

6-18 vs top 15 teams
11-24 vs top 25 teams
12 losses to unranked teams

And on top of that, from 2010-2015, 63 of his 146 signed scholarships either flunked out, were kicked off the team, failed to qualify, never showed up, or quit.

because he didnt know about alot of the stuff bothering the freshmen. that's a fact.
that being said, he has been good at talking kids into staying in past.

How is that a fact? Was there some press conference I missed?

Sounds good....but I’m not buying it.
Big talk to a reporter but remains to be seen if there will be any follow through.
I think the only changes Richt will make are staff members that leave on their own.

“The play-calling stinks. Mark should be paying attention to the whole game instead of calling plays. Al Golden didn’t want to listen to us about [firing defensive coordinator] Mark D’Onofrio and the same thing is happening here. He has to look at his son [quarterbacks coach Jon Richt] and the offensive line coach [Stacy Searels]. This is the problem with hiring your son. Our special teams aren’t good enough. There are a lot of problems.”

Stuff like this honestly caught me off guard. They weren't exactly pulling any punches and its almost like I was reading CIS.

Prolly posts here.

The article specifically states they were not authorized by the University to speak on the record.

It’s gotta be Vilma

The trustee he’s talking about going to Blake is Bernie

Vilma is begging for a banner

Imagine hiring a legit $1 million OC/QB coach and Richt just being the CEO. He could control these issues in the locker room more effectively and be more involved in the areas that are lacking and hold his staff more accountable.. for instance get involved with the OL if they aren't performing or the WR if they drop passes... instead of being so involved with QBs and installation that you don't have time for it and you rely only on that position coach.

If it was anyone other than his son at QB coach I could see it but idk. Not only that but you would also have to strip the title of CO-OC away from Brown and Dugans. Presents 3 issues... taking titles away from 2 guys and expecting them to stick around happily.. and firing your son. Neither of those are going to happen. Any good names out there that can legitimately call plays and coach an OL? Don't see those 2 positions held simultaneously very often and for good reason. You need the OC to be very involved with the QB.

Not gonna say we could have our choice of OC for that money but we could have a **** good one to pair with Manny. I believe in Richt the CEO but not what he's doing now.

If we had decent play calling we wouldn’t be losing and we wouldn’t be having these problems in the locker room.

The locker room BS is being caused by the offensive kids knowing the sHT ain’t working on offense with no change in sight and the defensive kids are tired of having to shut teams out **** near to win.

All the problems are Richt created and can be easily fixed.

Now will the Pricht forget his ego for the betterment of the program and make the changes?Im saying no w/o ALOT of pressure.Pressure I’m not sure Flake has the balls to make.

Whoever it is that’s talking at least it’s out there in print and the Pastor can’t think that everyone is hunky dory with the way things are going.

The old saying” the squeaky wheel gets the grease” applies here and the fans need to squeak so loud that the Pricht will either make the changes or retire with a negotiated buyout or Flake will have to grow a set and insist on changes.

Either way I think this article puts him on notice that the status quo ain’t gonna work......

OK this is weird. I'm guessing a BOT member or two is on this board. I could swear the article is quoting this site verbatim (maybe some of these things are obvious to any Canes fan, but the phrasing is pretty much word for word from this site). Makes me feel a bit better that the power brokers see the writing on the wall. If they want more good advice from
this site, this one's free- Mike Leach should be the next hire, but see if he would be willing to keep Diaz for stability.

I'm reading this, and it's almost quotes from what I've been saying for two years.

I even stressed time and again how the team is playing flat - adapting the behavior of their coach. That they don't absolutely HATE to lose.

Wow.

Yes, I'd say Trustee A has spent some significant time on CIS.

We don't need to pay an OC $1+mm, we can hire 5 new staffers for $1.2MM

Miami can hire
David Yost as OC/QB coach for $500k
Ryan Silverfield (from Memphis) as OL coach for $375k
Bob Stitt as Offensive Analyst for $125k
Sean Gleeson (Princeton OC) as offensive Analyst for $75k
Jason Shumaker (from Utah St) as Special Teams analyst $60k

Thomas brown can be the RB/running game coordinator/associate head coach an take a pay cut to $450k since Richt wont need a mouth piece. He can stay an learn the spread concepts from the new coaches.

Ron dugans can remain the WR/Passing Game Coordinator/associate head Coach same salary

Go Canes
