New 2014 DT Signee; Joe Brown

The risk the scholarship he was just awarded...

Is anyone surprised some dimwit named JerseyCanes supports his brethren's quest to destroy everything in their path?

UF's third worst DT they brought in this cycle might be better than out best.
Woah, woah, woah let's simmer down now. People are acting like Moten is some scrub or some ****. Kid is an elite DT.

I honestly think we aren't capable of landing an elite DT. All the Elite DT's get scooped up by programs that actually win. We get the leftovers.

So Moten is a leftover?

I just find it very odd that no other schools came after him. Miami was his only official visit. But maybe its an STA thing.

Worst case scenario he is body for practice and depth. We didn't take any reaches in this class and it's a position of need. Why not roll the dice !

At the end of the day its 1 schollie and with his size if he can actually build up strength then you're right at worst he can be practice for olineman so its whatever.

We can't waste a shollie on a practice player ... We need Impact DTs

Over or under 15 pages on a kid we wont remember in a month?

He is going to be our team for the next 3-5 years

Never to be heard from again.

Takes a spot up when we are in time of scholly reductions.

I agree but if they see ANYTHING thats potential I guess they can say he's worth the risk. **** it idk

This is what transpires when you **** up the recruiting of the DT position so badly.

Our defense is going to get shredded next year because we don't have any real talent at that position and there's seemingly no end is sight with signings like this.

It's bad enough we have to deal with a defensive coaching staff that doesn't seem to bring anything to the table X's and O's and adjustments wise. Having to rely on subpar talent only magnifies the problem.

Joe Brown dominated the line of scrimmage in the video below. The 6-foot-5, 330-pound lineman had nine solo tackles — four of them coming on the first drive of the second half before Davis extended the lead. Brown also caused a fumble at the end of the first half that junior linebacker Trayvon Sanders scooped and scored from 35 yards out. It was the third forced turnover of the night by the Pirate defense to make it 22-6 at halftime.

Brown was getting double teamed when he forced that fumble

I agree. I liked his film but something didn't smell right with his recruitment. I really hope he's not another Jelani

You really think we still won't recruit impact players?

Look the schollys always have a way working themselves out..

And this cat ain't taking no scholly from an impact DT that wants in..

As of today - he's a no risk only a reward type of get.

JC

I don't see the reward part that you're talking about

The point is we NEED impact DTs ...Brown is far from it

You know how people ***** and moan that we can't pick up JUCO DTs every year? What do you think those JUCO DTs looked like coming out of high school? What schools were recruiting them?

The answer, most of the time, is most schools didn't recruit them because of their grades and because their bodies needed a lot of work.

So because there was no drama to his recruitment he isn't that great? Kid likely told schools he was solid to us and that's why he didn't take any visits.

maybe. But it seemed like Florida was more than happy to let him walk before they had other elite DTs in the bag. Like I said, I like his film and think he'll be good

That's why JuCo recruiting is such a crap shoot. Even the top rated guys (Lovon Hooks) aren't guaranteed studs.

But most JuCo guys go because of grades.

Please. That's an awful comparison. Those JUCO kids have a two year body of work where they produced and dominated. There's some tangible evidence of a potential return on the investment of our scholarship. They've got a little bit of the flower coming out of the soil.

This kid is a bag of magic beans we bought from a hobo under a bridge. He's a fat, talentless hack. Golden must've seen a lot of himself in him.
