We’ve long known the NCAA was a joke from our own personal experiences as fans of this program. The inconsistencies of “punishment” given to some programs for relatively minor things, and turning a blind eye to major issues regarding other programs or simply levying “show clause” punishments that go no where.

The NCAA have acted as a governing body to give the facade of unifying amateurs sports, yet COVID-19 has completely debunked this notion. It’s been since March that COVID-19 became a world pandemic. During this time, March Madness cancelled, the NBA cancelled, NHL cancelled, the entire sports world cancelled. It’s been since March that the NBA, NHL, MLB, PGA, UFC, Wrasslin’ all put their heads together, and came up w/ feasible plans to restart.

The NCAA had even MORE time to put their heads together, you know, as a “unified body” to come up w/ a plan. These professional sports gave templates for restarts, yet the NCAA and its members stood by idly. Maybe they relied upon the notion of a vaccine being discovered by the time their season start; although EVERY health expert said it would take many months due to the red tape involved w/ vaccines. Maybe they thought a treatment plan would be in place by the time the season starts; although many health experts repeatedly said they don’t know enough about the virus to say if or when that will happen.

All the NCAA and its conferences did was sit on their @&&, twiddle their thumbs, in hopes of what? And now, it’s unveiled of how dysfunctional this sham of an organization is, and how each conference is in complete disharmony. Why are all these conferences meeting separately?? And why is the governing body not saying chit?

If there is no collegiate sports this yr, shame on all parties involved. 5 months, with a mutha fckin template you go by, and the best we have are students, u know the same students they are “allegedly” concerned about, coming up w/ better propositions than the supposed adults in the room??

If anything, I hope change is made to fix this farce of a governing body, so these allocated funds can be better used. This is extremely unacceptable, by one of the most powerful sports entities in this country.

(Sorry for the rant, but we finally got a team, on paper, worth a **** and we are stuck dealing with incompetencies that didn’t need to be this way. 5 fckin months to have chit to show for, w/ weeks away from kick off. Unbelievable.)

Spot on Rell. The NCAA and conferences wait and see approach on fall sports, and more importantly CFB, has now come to bite them in the *** and they still can’t come together on a viable solution.

If nothing else, this pandemic has exposed the incompetence and dysfunctional structure of the NCAA and the conferences.

Bro; MLS pulled this off. New Zealand Rugby pulled this off. These mofos had templates, an uber amount of templates to go by. How does the SEC commish come out & say “we think we have a viable solution for our conference.” OK, let’s say that’s facts; then WHY DON’T EVERY CONFERENCE HAVE THIS VIABLE SOLUTION? How does the SEC have a viable solution, but the PAC-12, MAC, Conf USA, BIG don’t, if this is supposed be governed by the NCAA which is supposed to make sure unity is among amateur sports?

How does Harbaugh say “Michigan has a plan” but freggin Nebraska & Rutgers don’t under the guidance of the NCAA? This has completely exposed school’s Presidents, ADs, Conferences, and the NCAA as the sham of being a one, unified entity.

This is by far thee most dysfunctional conglomerate today, yet they are banking billions trying to tell the student athlete & its fans “you need us.” What we need is cohesion so we can have a fcking season; not this fragmented chit that’s been given to us.

There is no purpose to the NCAA. It is an organization that exists without a true reason, anymore. I can only assume that at some point in history it served an actual purpose.
even the basketball tournament can be organized and marketed by a different entity.
‘That the schools have given such power to the NCAA Is unfortunate. IMO, most universities are old fashioned and don’t like change. So having the NCAA as a governing body is done simply because it’s always been done. And why make a change if it isn’t necessary.
Well if the country didn’t already know, now it does that the NCAA serves no actual purpose And change is necessary.

Every organization that wanted to play has found a way. Because they actually tried.

100% spot on.... I remember a few months ago some people questioned the NFL for preparing for the season. The response was we need to be prepared if we have a season. Its easy just to cancel everything. Obviously the NCAA didnt take that approach

This whole thing has been the largest collective display of cowardice I’ve ever seen.

Thet have never cared about player safety and don’t now. All they care about is taking the path of least resistance to their continued paydays.

The NCAA exists to protect the monied interests of the big boys, period. Bowl tie ins so fans get a vacation in January in Florida or Arizona. Won't someone think of the family members employed by the bowl committees who also do less than Bobby Bonilla (as was mentioned earlier in this thread) to earn their pay?

This whole will we play or not is a liability issue.

Someone could have checked with either the German or English soccer leagues. They both finished their seasons, were not in a bubble, and at least in England, did not have any cases once they resumed. If Germany had anyone, it wasn't many. The Germans were back to playing in early June.

^^^This × 100000!!! Well said and no apologies needed. **** is absolutely insane?!?!

Facts, bro. This is straight facts
And there is your answer about the NCAA. They are front men for the SEC, as we all know. So, they let all the other Conferences bounce around knowing their conference,SEC, is playing. If it is the only one more the merrier - four place off sports and and any other bowls they want - a $$$$ bonanza. The big surprise is that our panty waist conference looks like it wants in on the $$$. We have a chance to finish in the top 20.
