Somehow the FCS has a 24 team playoff that starts at the end of November and ends by early January but FBS with half the number of teams spans from mid-December and will go until the end of January. It makes no sense especially since they put an extra week between each round. If they ever expand the number of teams the final may be part of doubleheader with the Super Bowl.

The extra chromosomes required to keep the transfer portal in the middle of the playoffs and thinking the only issue to resolve is how long that portal window is; is the most NCAA thing ever.

Not only are the teams distracted by recruiting and roster building situations while trying to make a run. They may miss out on portal prospects they would have otherwise signed and also lose key role players and depth on their team smack in the middle of a playoff run.

It’s beyond stupid to have the portal in the middle of the playoffs. Imagine any other sport ever had free agency in the middle of the playoffs. Who is making these decisions?

I mean you could make an argument that some playoff teams have all these recruiting resources blah blah blah.

Imagine what that does to a school like JMU? Do their starters leave in the middle of the playoff to transfer wherever?
