It was said on this site that Manny went after Bo Pelini for DC before he had to settle for Blake, so Manny is willing to bring somebody with a different defensive philosophy. However this is based on CIS rumors
Lol I’ll take a 3-4 if it gets us a defense like those teams. And Im sure with all the great athletes they have Schumann would be able to make it work here, too. He’s not Donofrio. who cares what we run if we have an actual great defense? That rigidity of thinking is what we don’t need.typo. Point stands for GA and you talk about not adjusting or your position looking like ish go check out UGA.
Look all of those coaches are 3-4 for the most part, we tried that and it doesn't suit our recruiting base or the conference we play in.
No, what we tried was Al Golden's Groh 2-gap passive coward 3-4. Not all 3-4's are the same. You can run an aggressive 3-4. Besides, with all the uptempo spread offenses, you aren't in your base as much as before anyway. Coaching matters more than what alignment you're in.Look all of those coaches are 3-4 for the most part, we tried that and it doesn't suit our recruiting base or the conference we play in.
We can have their D...just got to pay 3 mil.Lol I’ll take a 3-4 if it gets us a defense like those teams. And he makes 550k at uga. Im sure with a full title it wouldn’t be budget that prevents him if there’s mutual interest.
I'll say it again if you don't understand it. For our recruiting base it's not a good fit. It doesn't matter aggressive or passive and just about all of the coaches schemes listed is 2 gapNo, what we tried was Al Golden's Groh 2-gap passive coward 3-4. Not all 3-4's are the same. You can say it as many times as you want, it doesn't make it any less idiotic. Everything our current DL is being asked to do, they could do in a 3-4, esp something like what Aranda runsI'll say it again if you don't understand it. For our recruiting base it's not a good fit. Look how that’s turning out at LSU...woofIt was said on this site that Manny went after Bo Pelini for DC before he had to settle for Blake, so Manny is willing to bring somebody with a different defensive philosophy. However this is based on CIS rumors
Georgia has had one of the best defenses in the country the past four year that Schumann had been there. What are you talking about ?We can have their D...just got to pay 3 mil.
The gata literally ran the same 3 plays over, and over, and over, and over and UGA never adjusted or stopped it. The gata running backs just caught another pass down the field on a wheel route. No adjustments, no nothing. That is Schumanns group.
Look i get Baker is hated, i'm starting to get into that camp as well, but some of the dudes listed aren't good fits.
It's obvious the "3 mil" part went over your head my man so i will explain it. The 3 mil is what UGA is paying their players to come and play there. We don't get the same talent and talent matters much.Georgia has had one of the best defenses in the country the past four year that Schumann had been there. What are you talking about ?
you don’t have to pay 3 million dollars for a defensive coordinator who will be better than Blake baker or for the roster.
they’re all great fits as is Zbrods Heacock guy who runs a 3-3-5. Great defensive coaching is great defensive coaching. You lump Donofrio and Al Golden with these other guys who can actually coach and work with top athletes. That makes no sense.
Actually no they can't. If our DL got upfield like they do in our D, we'd get gashed my man.You can say it as many times as you want, it doesn't make it any less idiotic. Everything our current DL is being asked to do, they could do in a 3-4, esp something like what Aranda runs
Has this been confirmed? They definitely looked different the last few series. I am not a football technician so I defer to the people who understand the game. I doubt we will ever get confirmation but curiosity kills the cat. If that D shows up we could be on to something...This isn’t Manny’s defense. The 4th Q was but pretty sure Manny was calling it
No I read it correctly. You struggle with quite a bit so I’ll help you. It's obvious the "3 mil" part went over your head my man so i will explain it. The 3 mil is what UGA is paying their players to come and play there. We don't get the same talent and talent matters much.
Also Schumann has the LBs right? the UGA LBs have looked worse and worse since Roquan was there culminating with this past weekend when the LBs were picked on ALL GAME with the same play...over and over and over and over and over. ZERO ADJUSTMENTS.
Also lets look deeper than just the numbers. Last year UGA played against the backup QB in like 8 out of their 12 games. The only competant O they faced they got smashed by LSU. SEC East is not a murder's row of offensive football and add the fact that UGA played the back up so much and you can see how they got their "top D." What's happened this year when they played teams with a pulse on O? SMASHED against the only 2.
And when did i lump Dno or Golden into this convo? Look reading comprehension isn't your thing, i get it, but lets not put words into peoples mouth.
Lets use your logic and apply to our defense. According to the numbers you use we're about a top 15-20 defense, Using your simple numbers why would we want to fire a top 15-20 DC? Why in the **** would we do that? Since you call applying a context cherry picking why would you want to fire a top 15-20 DC?No I read it correctly. You struggle with quite a bit so I’ll help you.
1. No again the 3 million part did not go over my head. We dont have to have a 3 million dollar roster to have a much better defense than what Blake Baker has been giving us and/or to run a 3-4 or any other defense. Where on earth did you come up with that? Pretty stupid comment. We already have a lot of guys or current recruits who could be ends in a 3-4: Harrison-hunte, L Taylor, etc. And guys like Harvey or cameron williams could be Outside linebackers. Our roster already has a lot of translatability from a scheme and athleticism standpoint. And not even discussing a 3-4 yes we can have a much better defense in general with a lot of the coaches mentioned in this thread.
2. You struggle (like most on this board) with the difference between a trend and several outliers. Georgia has had a GREAT defense since Smart has been there. You can’t hand pick numbers you want and I’ll go based on trends:
This year post Uf loss: 21 in scoring defense still 29 in total defense despite playing several top ten offenses in the country.
2019: number 4 in total defense, first in scoring defense
2018: 13th in total defense, 20th on scoring defense
2017: 4th in total defense, 4th in scoring defense
On average only Clemson has been better overall in the last 4 years. Who else has been better? So another stupid comment.
3. Your comments about us not having the money and roster to have the same roster as those teams or have a better fit to south Florida guys DOES tie in to Golden and Donofrio. You aren’t just saying that the system won’t work because we can’t buy elite talent or it requires certain ‘types’ lol. You also have a tainted opinion of the 3-4 and thinking it’s a poor fit due to what Donofrio did here (s fl kids need an attacking 4-3). It’s implied by comments like ‘types’ etc which makes no sense given what we already have on our roster and what we would have access to in the future.
Unfortunately a lot of the guys I mentioned don’t just explicitly run a 3-4 either in their schemes (going multiple). you don’t have to have a 3 million dollar roster to run it.
Can't we at least ask for someone who has put together a D and called the plays before? It's not an easy ask.Manny won’t fire his boy. But if we’re playing dream land I’d take Corey Raymond
It’s Manny’s defense. If you have problems with the scheme, it’s Manny’s scheme.
People are talking about the calls, but I suspect the real reason our defense is worse is that we have bad LBs. Manny is the one who recruited them.
The other issue is that CFB is becoming an arcade game. We aren’t even that bad statistically- in the 30s in scoring defense and yards per play. We aren’t near the elite, but I suspect that has more to do with our lack of elite talent at certain positions.
