NAME YOUR DC FOR NEXT YEAR

I’d bring in Corey Raymond as DC to learn ( and really let Diaz coach the unit)

sovles all the DB issues

ace recruiter and if he can bring ANYTHING as a DC it would be an A++ hire
Interesting....

Some guys I like:

-Brad White, Kentucky DC. Coached at Navy and Wake Forest before being an NFL lb coach. Get rid of Patke and Baker and have him as dc/lb. hire a st coach and new cb coach.

-Glen Schumann, lb coach and co-dc at UGA. More like an assistant dc but has been coaching and learning under great defenses with Smart and Lanning. 30/31 great up and comer worthy of a full title and awesome recruiter, bagman or not.

-Travis Williams, lb coach and assistant dc at Auburn. Learning under Steele and another very good up and comer. Probably the least seasoned but having him promoted as co DC with Steele so that’s telling so early in his career.

-Zac Arnett, dc and lb coach Mississippi State. He is a bad fit with Leach and having minimal emphasis on defense. The guy would be a great fit here and was great as DC at San Diego State several years and a lb coach for longer. Another young and good up and comer.

-finally a guy you haven’t heard of is Chad Staggs, dc and lb coach at Coastal Carolina. Was great at Charleston Southern and Furman and this year they are having great numbers though the competition is the concern. But everywhere he has been he’s done a great job.
Staggs again having them overachieving. Giving up only 6 points again yesterday. Guy deserves a power 5 job with his small school resume of successes.

you know ‘trends’. Not outlier/hot seasons. ;)

This is Manny’s defense.

It’s not a talent issue. It’s coaching and specifically Baker. He calls a different game then Manny, it’s more bend don’t break with less Man and more Zone.

He also doesn’t have the same energy level and tenacity Manny brought to his unit and sideline. More of the laid back country bumpkin feel which doesn’t mesh well with Miami guys.

Lets break down the talent

S - two JR upperclassmen 4 Stars (Bubba & Gurvan) who were higher rated/more talented then the Safeties before them who played at a way higher level (Jaquan/Redwine) and (Rayshawn/Carter)

CB - Again two JR upperclassmen who have been somewhat disappointing, haven’t shown they can take the next step, and yea we have no depth thanks to Rumph’s horrific recruiting

LB - Glaring issue on this defense. McCloud and Jennings are just not good. We have younger talent that apparently is just not ready (Huff, TAC) yet. Are any of our current commits going to come in here next year and be day 1 starters, probably not cause we missed out on the two local LBs that could (T2 & Hood). Also, a position Patke & Baker are specifically responsible for coaching and recruiting

DL - More upperclassmen and two 1st round talent DEs that have a combined 5 sacks in 7 games (not good).

Whatever Baker is doing it’s not working. Baker is the LB coach and was a LB in college and our LB look more lost than any position. He needs to go and so do Patke and Rumph

Definitely not the Pittsburgh Steelers D Coordinator. **** sucker had Watt covering CeeDee Lamb on 3rd and 7.
Dumbass...
But yeah I like the guy from Cincinnati

We won’t pay what Freeman will command. Realistically we should look at Fran Brown and Rocky Long to replace Rumph and Baker. These are guys who are attainable. Assuming Long would come to the east coast

You literally just named all 3-4 guys. Do u want to try running the scheme without the payroll those teams have?

Kentucky, Mississippi State, and Coastal Carolina have high payrolls? And Schumann wouldn’t want a full time gig at a power 5 school with the athletes at our disposal? So you have to have a high payroll to coach better than Blake Baker?

typo. Point stands for GA and you talk about not adjusting or your position looking like ish go check out UGA.

Look all of those coaches are 3-4 for the most part, we tried that and it doesn't suit our recruiting base or the conference we play in.

He should part ways but he won't that's his guy and we are 6-1.

It should be the guy from Cincy but Baker will be here next year. Diaz had the quick hand on offense but for some reason he lets the defensive coaches do whatever they want...even if it's half the job not being done. That means one **** thing imo.... everything on defense gets approved by him.
I have to disagree (I'm an eternal optimist). I believe Manny will fire Baker. We are likely to lost 1-3 more games this year (including the bowl game) and we will have at least 2-3 more bad defensive performances; VTech, Wake and UNC. At the end of it all manny will know he will either change his DC or be limited to a 7-5/10-2 type of coach.

As to who can replace Baker, that comes down to how much money Manny is given and can he bring in an established DC form another P5 program or go find some "up and coming" guy from a small school.

Fair enough I respect the straight forward agree to disagree quote. Hope your right cause I dont want to be right I dont take joy in our football team suffering what it has suffered over the years, I hate it actually even though some dont believe that.
