NAME YOUR DC FOR NEXT YEAR

Some guys I like:

-Brad White, Kentucky DC. Coached at Navy and Wake Forest before being an NFL lb coach. Get rid of Patke and Baker and have him as dc/lb. hire a st coach and new cb coach.

-Glen Schumann, lb coach and co-dc at UGA. More like an assistant dc but has been coaching and learning under great defenses with Smart and Lanning. 30/31 great up and comer worthy of a full title and awesome recruiter, bagman or not.

-Travis Williams, lb coach and assistant dc at Auburn. Learning under Steele and another very good up and comer. Probably the least seasoned but having him promoted as co DC with Steele so that’s telling so early in his career.

-Zac Arnett, dc and lb coach Mississippi State. He is a bad fit with Leach and having minimal emphasis on defense. The guy would be a great fit here and was great as DC at San Diego State several years and a lb coach for longer. Another young and good up and comer.

-finally a guy you haven’t heard of is Chad Staggs, dc and lb coach at Coastal Carolina. Was great at Charleston Southern and Furman and this year they are having great numbers though the competition is the concern. But everywhere he has been he’s done a great job.

I would like to take a run at Marcus Freeman his current contract with Cincinati isn't that bad but I think we can raise it a little bit more, around 1 mil or at least 900k. Just fire Baker already dude is a lame!

U can scratch him off the list then....cause we aren't competing with that offer sheet. Not the Cincy sheet the nfl teams that want him.

How about Manny acting in a DC capacity on game day. Expand Lashlee’s control over the offense (he got it down this week) and that should relieve Manny of that focus on game days. Get a solid ST coach that you don’t have to babysit. It shouldn’t cost anything more to put this into play. Didn’t Jimbo have the offense on game day with James Coley prepping for the week at FSU? Something similar to this on D would be great.

How bout making Moping Manny the DC, at least we might get some energy & attitude on the sideline from him. 70 year old Nick Saban looks like a high school cheerleader on the side lines compared to Moping Manny.

Signed,

Peruche

This isn’t Manny’s defense. The 4th Q was but pretty sure Manny was calling it
Agreed. The 4th quarter looked like The U we’re used to. If Manny really stepped in acalled the 4th quarter, Baker should be fired immediately!!!
If Baker called the 4th, Manny should read him the Riot Act and threaten to fire him if he calls the D like that again.
NCST on their last 3 possessions went 4 plays & punt, 3 plays & punt, and 1 play which was the Int. by Ivey

Yeah he's an interesting one. Saban and Kirby swear by him seems like. Bound to get an opportunity somewhere. Is he too young and inexperienced though? Or is this a future Joe Brady? That would be a high risk, high reward type of hire.

yes and not sure who I would want at DC. We don’t spend big money on that side of the ball and wouldn’t be surprised if manny gave Banda the job. Then reworked the surrounding pieces.
👆 this is what will happen. Nobody worth a **** is gonna come run Manny's defense, and we won't spend money on a GOOD DC.

Thanks for the list as well as the insight. If moves are made up & comer types seem likely - doubt we're breaking the bank on ANY of the defensive staff, and proportional pay for replacement cost seems logical. Shame we OVERPAID for a 1st time head coach, but I digress..

Problem would be, it's Manny's defense. Unless Manny is comfortable with a DC putting his own defense in (and any DC worth a **** would insist on installing his own defense, I would) , you're going to have to put in a guy that will run Diaz's defense his way.
After manny allegedly took over playcalling duties late in the game, the defense was vastly improved. It's clear there's q difference between Blake's and Manny's defense.
