2027 Myson Johnson-Cook 2027 RB

I dont think the staff ever felt truly comfortable he was ours. There was chatter that the staff hated when people posted Crystal Balls of recruits coming to Miami and wanted the fans to stop doing so. Came out right around the time this guy and Matthews' started getting them.

Yep. That’s why I never get excited with all of post pool party posts and sunshine pumping. Pay attention to the visits and the commitments. The more time that elapses following a big recruiting event without a commitment, the less likely the commitment.

Also, do not pay attention to any of the “we are on pace to land a Top 3 class” predictions. That’s nonsense. Top 10 is always realistic, but still difficult. We do not need to be Top 3 to compete for a championship.

Onward.

If he goes to Auburn then LOL , Passing up on running behind what will be some of the best Olines in america to be irrelevant at Auburn is quite the decision. We'll be just fine with how we're recruiting and evaluating under Mario now.

At some point we have to start to close these battles we feel ultra good about. Pete gets flack for what he says but he is absolutely right. These are battles that simply need to be won against inferior programs.

I have faith in a flip down the road is possible but it shouldn’t come to that.

Very disappointing there is no spinning it
At the end of the day, money talks. I’m sure the top programs said the same exact thing about us when we landed guys like Francis, Samson, Scott, Blount, Bain, etc.

Regardless of who the Name is, we will have a good RB in this class. I’m not stressing whatsoever. Whoever, losing a guy like Matthew’s is a completely different story

There are hundreds of factors why a kid picks a school. Hundreds of factors when he doesn't. And every school misses on its targets from time to time. Absent specific information about the recruitment, blaming coaches (especially one who just got here a couple months ago) for not landing one recruit seems emotional and divorced from reality.

On the flip side, calling a miss anything but a miss is cope. Guessing it must be money or some strategic resource allocation is cope. When there are continued losses for top targets, that indicates a problem. And when there is no viable plan B (I think we have one here with Keys), that problem can become catastrophic.

Too soon to know how this all plays out, but based on MJC's ceiling as a player, the number of visits and resources invested in his recruitment, and general consensus about the recruitment up to about 36 hours ago, him signing elsewhere would be a major miss.

That’s my guess. Having such a loaded RB room means the full bank is not being used in a bidding war. Saving it for another position.

Yes, it is loaded for this upcoming season, but thereafter it’s pretty wide open especially for a kid of this caliber.

We got outbid. It happens and it's going to happen again.

We're in a new era. Everyone has money and some teams prioritize different players and positions more than others.

If we land Ty Keys at 50-75 percent of what Cook cost and allocate the remaining money elsewhere, that's not a bad outcome. That's the calculation being made here.

Lose one guy in April 7-8 months before he signs and everyone assumes the rb room will be bare after the year ends. Lol oh ok.

These are genuinely bizarre individuals. If I hadnt spent my entire adult life interacting with hundreds of them, I’d be convinced these are bots.

Yes guys, this kid might commit to Auburn in April. So the direct result of that is having 1 back on the roster for 2027 and having to move Lofton to RB and play 30% of our snaps with Mali in wildcat. ******, but it is what it is.

Grab your sack. Or at least where it used to be. Jesus Christ.

It seems like we found the perfect recipe for constructing a great roster. I don’t put much stock into what ranking our class is. The 2025 class was ranked 14th, and look at how many guys contributed year one. The class is way better than what the rankings portrayed.

We can spend an absolute bag and get the number 1 class, but it then leaves us little moves to make moves in the portal. This staff knows wtf they’re doing

People just want everybody but if Auburn threw out an absurd number it would be crazy to try and match it. And, if that is the case, don't get mad at Miami for not overpaying. I would absolutely overpay for Matthews, especially if they think he's another Cantwell.
Absolutely.

You overpay for Cantwell but not Cooper because you can find a thrifty replacement for Cooper (Mallory) but not Cantwell.

So, you overpay for Matthews and not MJC, because there's another back that can replace MJC - the dropoff from MJC to whoever this year's Mallory might be isn't as significant as say the drop off from Matthews to whichever low 4* or 3* replacement might be.

Sure, losing MJC hurts the fans' quest for 300, and a top 3 class, and it will most definitely lead to more *****ing and whining from Ariz on the podcast, but prioritizing the trenches over skill will always ensure the program is competitive and winning meaningful games

This one is not good, I hope we make a last second offer. This has to be all about NIL, we must not want to match Auburn

At least 3?

We’re losing 1 for sure. Fletcher.
Some of these guys are more than likely going to be ****ed off this up coming season over playing time. Without naming names, you think all of them sticking around another season after this one?

Wheatley-Humphrey
Lyle
Mallory
Pringle
Brown

On top of any freshman we bring in! I would expect 2 minimum to be gone next season not including fletcher.

It’s absolutely a miss. And it won’t be the last one. We offer, what? 100 kids? And we sign 25ish. That’s 75 misses.

What we pay Mario for is to find the best 25 you can to be able to push Notre Dame, and Ohio State, and UiF, and Texas A&M, up and down football fields. I’m fully confident he’ll do just that. And that’s all while “missing” on dozens and dozens of kids.

They aren’t a completely trash program, have yall lost your minds? It’s Auburn. They are a top third of the SEC program with a new coach smell, a ton of resources, a good recruiter at this kid’s position, and no depth chart.

One kid *might* commit to Auburn and you guys act like kids are turning down Miami to go to FIU. Auburn is still very enticing to kids. The SEC is still very enticing to kids. A lot of money is still very enticing to kids. Yall need to chill out. I want this kid here too but it’s April, for one, and this kid has no connection to Miami at all, you don’t think Auburn can convince kids to come play for them?

They signed the #8 class in the country literally 15 months ago. It was #10 the year before that. You think they got Cam Coleman to commit there because he likes throwing toilet paper into trees? Need some Xanax in this thread.
Come on man, very few people on here are objective about things. Average IQ from these very same people is sub 70
